The take away so far from these games, none of the Leaf players really rise to the occasion.

Yes Marner scored the game winner with a nice shot but that wasn't a playoff style game as this was and it was a 3 on 3 goal with plenty of space. These Leaf stars just do not play well when space it taken away.
To be fair, I thought Matthews was outstanding defensively tonight.

But yeah, our guys never seem to rise to the occasion.

I mean, this game also means absolutely nothing, so I'm not sure I would take anything from it
It absolutely meant something to everyone involved in the game. This kind of intensity is only seen in the playoffs

13.25 for Sammy Pahlsson

Can’t be paying him that kinda money to be a defensive specialist fire him and Mitch into the sun if that’s what we’re getting for all them millions

Even Willy, who is usually very good in international competitions looked very pedestrian in two games with Sweden.
Did he look pedestrian that’s not what I saw or what I heard for that matter he definitely coulda been better but he was better than the other two

Lmao yeah let's see you post this after Canada-Sweden where everyone was acting like Marner just scored a game 7 OT winner
I mean just look at how both teams approached this game, the 3 fights to start, listen to the crowd on the McDavid goal

This was arguably the biggest game in a decade. I don't know how anyone could think it was meaningless

It was a good game. I think the take aways are pretty clear.

Canada has business to take care of on Monday to setup the much anticipated rematch.

I honestly feel Canada outplayed the States. Goaltending was the difference. Whoever had the lead heading into the 3rd was going to try and shut it down. Difference is USA has an all-world goalie and we have a guy to makes some saves... sometimes. No way we were holding them off imo.

I thought Harley played great! Sanheim too, in clearly limited minutes.

MacKinnon was shit from the puck drop.

McDavid is flying solo out there, no one knows how to play with him it seems.

Not a lot of chemistry, but still playing well generally speaking. Spending very little time in the defensive zone... easy when the goalie lets in the first shot.

They will have takeaways. Let's hope they apply them.

2 of the top 6 in the NHL for goals scored the last 3 seasons:
Point
Reinhart

Hope they show up soon. The biggest highlight tonight for Reinhart was losing his man on the first goal and Points was being fed wide open on the PP and choking out a non chance.
