Here's a suggestion: Bury Volchenkov in the minors. The Devils would save around $925k off his contract that way and they could bring up Gelinas, scratch Harrold, and play Larsson and Gelinas instead. Huge problems fixed just like that. Thoughts?

Lou says he doesn't want a big contract in the minors. At this point I'd just do it to get better players in the lineup.

Right now they're paying him to hurt the team, so it seems like a less awful idea to pay him to go away. I still think the best option is to buy him out as soon as possible this offseason, though, if Lou can't trade him before then.
