GDT: 4/7/2025 - 7:00PM EDT - Tampa Bay @ New York Rangers

2 points secured and a reasonably successful road trip with 5/8 points. The division is still up for grabs, but the next game is rather important.
The biggest irony would be if we took the division to avoid a brutal series against Florida, only to have Ottawa knock Florida into a wc spot —- and have the panthers end up playing us anyway.

Honestly thought we had a very ho hum game thanks to the lopsided talent gap and big 1st period lead. 3 points for Kuch and 2 points in the standings, good enough

I'll still take the division and play Florida, that's fine. Florida isn't going to just turn on a light switch even if Tkachuk came back, he won't be 100%. Even if Marchand was a good trade it seems like an adjustment period as their team figures out chemistry. They're playing like a tired team with 2 deep runs in a row. They are ripe for the taking.

Florida will take pound of flesh with them and then injuring someone is my biggest worry. I’m feeling pretty good about kuch hagel guentzel point and vasy going ham 1st round

I think Florida is indeed just waiting to turn the light switch on.

Teams have different strategies on how to navigate 82 games, but it's pretty much universal now that they take chunks of time off.

It’s not just Tkachuk. Barkov will be back then and he scares me more than anyone. Bennett has been sitting out too and he’s, well… Bennett.

Ekblad back for game three although he may have ptsd from Kuch a few years back.

That's a fair point indeed. Either way there are a lot of good first round match ups. We just need to continue to play well and we should be fine.

Here's a complete list of forwards in NHL history who have reached 80+ assists, three years in a row:

1. Wayne Gretzky
2. Nikita Kucherov

Apparently though kucherov isn't good enough to hold mackinnon's stick according to mvp voters.
It's a travesty to be a Russian in a Canadian league. Especially one so disliked.
