GDT: 4/5/2025 - 7:00PM EDT - Tampa Bay @ Buffalo

Yeah, this was a really poor game all the way through. Feel bad for JJ who gave the team a chance but the rest didn't do great.

Meh. Battle of Florida Round 1 most likely. Unless Florida keeps playing like shit and Ottawa catches em
That would actually be hilarious.

With all the talk about how "important" winning the division is to avoid one of Tampa, Florida that I've heard from leaf fans. Winning the division just so they get stuck with Florida in round one would have me in stitch's.

Boys didn’t seem to concerned with winning the Atlantic tonight. Sabres completely outplayed them. First round series against the Panthers here we come. Credit to the Leafs for taking it. Maybe Toronto goes 0-2 on their Florida back to back. Even then there’s little margin for error at this point is Toronto’s to lose

Absolutely horrendous loss. What's it going to take for this team to string more than one decent road game together ffs, and how is it possible that wvery g damn time JJ is in net they play like ahit in front of him. They are likely not winning the division now and with efforts like that, they don't deserve it.

I definitely don’t want to play Florida round one
Healthy Florida no. The way Florida and Bobrovsky are playing right now, I don't mind em. I think they're falling off late in the season like we did in 2022-23 and Vegas did in 2023-24. Hard when you've played so much the past couple years and won the Cup the previous year.

how are we softer than buffalo..? Oliver “the ghost” Bjorkstrand really needs to get his shit together. Looking like Mitchell Chaffee out there

Once Toronto got hot again, I stopped thinking winning the division was realistic. Still could happen of course, but less and less likely. They just don't start well on the road, been that way since 2nd half of the season decline in 2022-23 where they looked disinterested

I wouldn't take anything away from this game at all.

Pretty apparent from puck drop that the team wasn't going to be giving it their all tonight.

Some might say by design.
The design is leading to horrific road results, playing with our food, perimeter passing and countless missed shooting opportunities. I don't even care that we lost. I care that we have lost this way probably over a dozen times. That we do this without success. I genuinely think we believe we're gonna stroll into Toronto and Sunrise and what we saw tonight vs Buffalo is somehow supposed to work.

If we wanna do something right we do it. We figured out our PK in like 3 weeks. But a standard road win vs a mediocre opponent eludes us. That's why I'm pointing out bad habits

Falling off at the end off RS isn't at all indicative of how they're going to perform in the playoffs. Weird to say this as the Lightning have done so many times, they could just be not giving a f*** because playoffs are locked in and around the corner. How did the 2021 Lightning look to finish the season again?

It's a very disappointing loss and effort with so much on the line. JJ was excellent, but most of the rest, not so much. While it's only 1 pt lost, it's still a big one. They cam still take the division, but they must beat Toronto in regulation. I'd guess they can afford one more loss in the last 6 to still have any chance, and it can't be to Toronto (and preferably not Florida either).

Cooper really needs to come up with some new lines. All 3 feel stale. If he was willing to separate Hagel and Cirelli it would give us a lot more options. And for the love of god just recall Geekie

I think you just have to accept that they probably won't win it unless Toronto gets extremely cold to end the season.
