I posted about both events in the GDT.Beck taking a hit by a 6'4" Dman and not only keeping his feet but making the play to help tie the game should be getting some love. We don't get to see Caufield's goal of his life without that Lad showing why he is a winner. Sure he got walked covering for a Dman earlier in the game but at least he found a way to fight back and help his team. There was no coming back tonight for Celebrini however.![]()
The goal was inexcusable, looking at the puck and not playing the man is hockey 101. He knows better, just a rookie mental lapse that shouldn’t happen again.
On the goal he took the huge hit, and still made the pass to Laine who cradled it deftly to Newhook. He deserves a ton of credit for his physical toughness on that play, and it’s something this team has been without for far too long. That gritty, never give up, always coming back for more style that used to be a hallmark of Habs hockey. The young man was terrific on that play, more than making up for the earlier gaffe.
