GDT: 4/3/2025 - 7:00PM EDT - Tampa Bay @ Ottawa

7 games left. Both games against Buffalo and the game against Detroit have to equal 6 points, no excuses. They also have to win the home games against the Leafs and Panthers, but that was always a must. They split with the NYR, and they end up with 105 or 106 points, depending on if the loss was in OT/SO. That is likely their only real chance at the division barring Toronto slumping down the stretch. It's definitely doable, but they can't punt against any of the lower teams and must win at home against the good ones.

If the Lightning get 2 points out of this road trip it would be a miracle.

It's not a certainty yet but at this point I would rather play the Panthers than Toronto. Leafs are going to steamroll their first round opponent, I just don't see them losing in the early rounds. It's pick your poison but if we're not winning the division, might as well see what we've got in the battle of Florida.

Sens beat Leafs three times this season. They match up well. I’m fine with them having to get past Ottawa.

Pretty annoying if Leafs take the division and we have to face the Panthers in round 1. Even though we're in a much better to shape face them than last year, we're still going to be clear underdogs. This team feels too good to not even make it to the 2nd round.

I agree, this could be their year finally, it's going to be a heck of a battle. There are going to be a lot of good teams out in the first round east and west.

That he touched the puck

Big chance by Hagel

Touching the puck is irrelevant. It needs to be a follow-through on a shot.

This is the official wording from the NHL rulebook:

"A “high stick” is one which is carried above the height of the opponent’s shoulders. Players must be in control and responsible for their stick. However, a player is permitted accidental contact on an opponent if the act is committed as a normal windup or follow through
of a shooting motion, or accidental contact on the opposing center who is bent over during the course of a face-off. A wild swing at a bouncing puck would not be considered a normal windup or follow through and any contact to an opponent above the height of the shoulders shall be penalized accordingly."

My guess is swinging at a puck 5 ft in the air along the boards is deemed more of a "wild swing at a bouncing puck" and not "a follow through of a shooting motion "

I come in peace just to spread knowledge :)

Yeah I didn't agree with Guentzel complaining. Just saying what he was complaining about.

I think it's almost time for the yearly Matthews to Arizona joke thread on the MB.

Next chapter: Buy the Leafs and move them to Arizona just because he wants to be next to Moms home desert cooking. It's non negotiable. Downtown Phoenix.

The Leaf logo will be changed to a Cactus

He's also taking the Mayflower truck that moved the Colts from Baltimore to Indy in 84.

Might as well move them to Mullett Arena.
