Hell of a lot of these tip-ins during the regular season then, considering he looked like garbage for the majority of it. I get Cooper is just defending his guy, but everyone knows Vasy has been playing terribly for quite awhile now. Coop isn't fooling anyone here.

Where the Leafs have won the battle so far is when they have gone into the head (literally and figuratively) and hurt some players. A more physical team would have immediately targeted Matthews. Remember the Mc Cabe headshot...no response from the team.
The disallowed goal in game 3 was decisive as well, perhaps more so than yesterday's comeback

Without question the D core is a shell of what it once was, and you gotta think there is some synergy there with Vasy that has been lost which hasn't helped.

I think Perbix will only get better. He hit a wall as most college rookies do. But he'll be better with a full off-season of training and a full camp etc. I don't see him as McD of course, but he's an upgrade over Rutta as he progresses.

I'd like to see Sergy (still 24?) replace Hedman as 1A and Hedman slot into McD 1B roll. That would require Hedman to embrace that role though.

The Vasi switch that had him as a top-5 goalie during the regular season got switched off. In terms of the skaters, we've actually been the better team for 3/4 of this series, so that switch got flipped as we expected. Nobody realized flipping one switch on would turn the other switch off.

Randorf and Engblom both have long histories working for national networks as neutral broadcasters. Obviously Engblom's been with us for quite a while now, but while I know both of them are more than capable of providing the hype for Lightning goals when it's warranted - Dave's goal call of Point's OT winner last year was 10/10 - but I also never expect them to go full homer in a depressed sense when things go bad either, because it's not how they're conditioned to broadcast. IIRC, I think Randorf said after the Panthers won an OT game against us in the '21 playoffs something about "good for him(Lomberg)/them".
