It's a testament to how many times we've watched this team mail games in that I have no idea which Lightning team we are getting tonight. Playoff mode? Or the other 35 times we couldn't be bothered to give a f*** until something humiliating happened like get dunked on for twice in like 35 seconds by BuffaLOL

One of the best rivalries in the NHL. The Lightning need to start whooping them again like the little brother they used to be.

It's such bad scheduling to have potential playoff teams matching up as some of the last regular seasons games. Realistically if possible, teams shouldn't play their division for about the last month of the season. Look what happened with Nurse taking out Byfield.

I disagree. Teams compete within their division (primarily) for playoff spots, so the stakes can be huge late in the season.

As a fan, I want to see those types of games. There are enough quasi-meaningless games in the season already.

I'd think that coaches would want those games, as well, to ramp up into post-season play. I'd also sort of guess that teams would prefer shorter road trips at the end of the season. Flying to Winnipeg or San Jose right now seems like such a hassle when the focus should be on getting ready for the playoffs. Then there's Buffalo, who just wants it to get the season over with.

What are the changes this turns into an ugly game when Bennett or whoever starts "preparing" for the round 1 meetup?

Bennett is going to be out there to Elbow or Slew Foot Kuch or Hagel. Also keep an eye on how many "accidental" bumps and slashes Vasy takes.

Agreed. Absolutely detest the idea of Bennett hitting someone from behind or Mikkola cross checking our forwards for a 2 minuter minor while we start round 1 down a guy or Kucherov, Point or Guentzel with broken ribs.

I don't think you're thinking about this in relative terms. All contending teams are mailing a lot of games in. It's the new NHL. The last two teams that went hard wire to wire set records and got humiliated in the first round. It's a strategy.
