I predict a 4-3 overtime loss. Why? We lost by that score in our last two games to an inter-divisional rival, who were both on the second leg of a back-to-back after having played, and lost to, Florida. Just like Buffalo.

Don’t see why this game should be any different.

So we punted on the best forward prospect we've had in years so and then follow it up with calling up a guy who could not been in a better place developmentally.

I'm done trying to understand our thought process

Pretty simple: Geekie is good enough to be in the nhl. Just wish we’d called him up earlier.

Ehhhhhhh. There's "good enough" and then there is good enough. Geeks was trapped in that void between worlds. Like you could see him doing all the right things. But he was almost instinctually playing a power forward, almost Pat Maroon style. But with a fraction of the strength and mass needed and yet probably triple the IQ and playmaking creativity

Kid would IMMEDIATELY to the dirty areas and get swallowed up. And the fact he has 6 goals is a testament to his tenacity

He just has to fill out

Calling up our best prospect who is looking dominant? Thought process is pretty straightforward on that one.

I think is fitting that he wears 14, same as maroon did.

Geekie is looking dominant because he is exactly where he needs to be. I would rather he continue his success where he is than drag him up because Bjorkstrand got hurt. We will go and rely on a player we saw struggle for 49 games but won't let Cooper be the person who decides whether or not our Hobey Baker winner is fit for NHL duty.

I'm not saying Geekie can't improve. I'm saying it's been a week of coaching decisions from the office and I'm already burned out on it

I’d rather let geekie play in the ahl playoffs. But I don’t know who else you call up at this point.

“Week-to-week” injury from a team that constantly told us that stamkos was “close to return” the whole playoffs doesn’t bode well for the bjorkman

FWIW, Geekie has done almost all his goal scoring on the power play. I'm not complaining, but it does seem important to remember when looking at his 11 goals in 24 games. We probably should have left him down when he was just starting to cook, but we also need the next best available now that Bj is down. Pretty rotten luck to have the guy you paid 2 first rounders for possibly not even contribute in the first round.

Hopefully Bjorkstrand isn't out that long, but it's great to see Geekie, who has been playing extremely well in Syracuse, back in the lineup. We don't know how long it will be for Bjorkstrand, but either way, the team will be fine. They still have a good chance at a deep run with the team they have.

"Drag him up", he did exactly what he set out to do and Cooper himself alluded to the fact that he would be back eventually. He earned it, there's nothing more to it. Howard has nothing to do with anything right now. We're short on players and Geekie is pretty clearly the most deserving candidate. I guess you could make a case for Sheary, Finley or Brown (is he even healthy now?) but none more deserving than Geekie.
