QUOTES TO NOTE:

There’s definitely a lot of stuff we can learn from the first couple games.
But I think our process is good. The will is there. It’s coming along.
- Chris Kreider

You have to learn from it, obviously. I’m not a guy that would take that the wrong way and mope about it.
It’s the NHL; if you’re not playing well, there are guys that are playing well. DeAngelo played a phenomenal game the in Carolina.
I think all the ‘D’ have earned a spot on the roster, and I’m probably the guy that needs to fight a little bit harder to get my spot back.
It’s on me, for sure.
- Kevin Shattenkirk

As good as we were offensively, we were that bad defensively.
- David Quinn

Zucc has 2 points?

How did he manage to Ryan spooner that?
He had the secondary assist on the ENG against the Preds and the primary assist on Buch’s powerplay goal against Carolina. I’d attribute both goals to Mika and ADA more than Buch, but that’s just me. He’s been fine offensively, but he’s been dogshit on defense. His effort there is what’s been most disappointing for someone that’s supposed to be a leader.

Didn't know he got one on the Buch PPG. Guess he deflected ADA's shot before Buch knocked it in?

He was fine on offense in the first game (he can't finish, but thats nothing new. At least he was in the middle of a bunch of stuff) but he's been ass on both ends since.

It's 2 games, but he's looked like this for long stretches in each of the last 2 seasons. Need him to do better if for no other reason than to bump up his value in a few months.

Lundqvist and defense are locked in early, scoreless into the 2nd period until Zibanejad buries one.

Tie into OT, 4-on-4 can't settle it. Sharks edge 3-2 (SO).

So Chytil is now on neither pp unit and getting 4th line duties. We’re benching guys left and right except for staal. KZB line broken up after first two games.

How is this different than what AV would do? We’re supposed to be rebuilding no?

Will the Rangers benefit from being everyone else's trap game? Discuss.

The Sharks had 48 shots on goal against Philly. With our great defense I guess they'll have 60.

Oh Hank...this will be a tough one for you.

I hate how Shattenkirk immediately points out DeAngelo in his quote about being scratched. (Not a criticism of Shattenkirk, he's just calling the kettle black)

We're forcing them to compete with each other because of this dumb f***ing Rongos mentality that you can only have one OFD, while McQuaid and Staal get permanent spots no matter what they do.

Putting up points is literally discouraged on this team and then we wonder why our defensemen don't put up points.

I think you may be reading too much into that quote. Perhaps Quinn is using scratches establish a culture of effort, not results. Results will come when the roster is better.

I think they might be prepared to go as far as playing two "OFD", but that they consider Pionk one as well.
