San Jose is bad, but if the Flyers got this goaltending against the Kings, they would have won that game as well.

So Tippett can only shoot? Two great passes, threading the needle on the power play, goal by Frost called back, goal by TK stands. Drysdale after an off game is back on track.

Laughton - Frost - Michkov playing as well as the Cates line, maybe it's a SSS fluke, maybe there's real chemistry.
Tippett - Poehling - TK is your speed line.
Farabee - Couts - Hathaway were ok, but better when someone substituted for Hathaway, allows Tippett and Foerster to get some time on the right side.

Like I've said, with average or above goaltending this is a 95 point team (94 point pace last season before the goaltenders imploded like Spinal Tap drummers).

They need a few more players, primarily another center or two so Couts can move to LW.
Don't know how you sit Zamula for Andrae right now, Seeler is the ideal partner for Drysdale.
Things may change at the TDL, but right now there's no room at the inn.

Tippet making a smart play once doesn't negate the ~70 boneheaded plays he makes to balance it out.
It's also not about passing, more about the ability to control play. He's got decent passing ability. But he doesn't always make smart decisions with the puck. Those passes were nice, but like you said, in this game you can point to 2-3 plays where the puck died on his stick.

Please don't use recency bias to defend Tippett. Watching him play for several years now it is clear he is a shoot first player who doesn't think pass when on the rush. He does not make those types of passes on the rush or during a cycle (if he's ever involved in cycling the puck to extend the play, which is rare because that's not his style).

Stationary PP passing is not the same as fluid 5v5 play, but surely you would understand this and wouldn't argue in bad faith...

Poehling scored in the game, He is obviously a goal scorer. They played the Sharks! A team that is 27th in the league in scoring LOL. Only on the Flyers is there no room for a talented young defenseman who is their 3rd best defenseman in Andrae.

going into the season everybody thought Chicago’s roster was so bad that they were a lock for worst record. San Jose says “hold my beer”. Did the Flyers look good last night? Eh, kinda, but…

Sharks......in song.....

Good band for the Gen Z

And here is a song for Beef the Marxist........by the Flying Soviet......;-))

Cover band of 60s garage band music.. This particular song is one of my favs; somewhere I have it on a comp album, the orginal by the Squires.

The game: boy do the Sharks need defense, Will Smith, boy, I thought he would do better against the Flyers defense. Of course Michkov made some plays but nobody could finish........

Ers' son? More like Neuvirth's son.
When a guy breaks down as often as Ersson has over the last year it could be that he's not being allowed to get well. Torts broke him last year in order to save his skin with his unrealistic run to make the POs.
Probably the same thing is going on now. He really has only Ersson who can play goal in the NHL. Fedotenko and Kolosov can't handle the position.
Long term the best thing is to do what it needs to be done in order to get Ersson fixed and let the chips fall where they may with the other two bozos. Eat the losses and enjoy the draft picks. Of course that messes with someone's legacy but that's the way that it gores.

I think it's just one of those things, he seemed to have gotten hurt in a collision, not making a normal goalie move. He looked fine before then.

Or he ius just injury prone and not in great shape. To blame the coach for his injuries is off base to me. Sam isn't anything special and I do not think he is a #1 goalie. If he can be a good backup you take it at this point.

For the next few years, the Flyers goalie situation doesn't look all that good. The 3 they have now are total question marks at this time.

It's not off base at all. The Flyers have a history of rushing skaters and goaltenders back into the lineup just to grind them into a pulp and have their injuries re-aggravated and lose more time.

I'm not saying this was the case in this instance with Ersson, but it also very well could be because the last thing the Flyers media reports is anything but 100% transparency and authenticity.

Frost has been great this year, even if some braindead people don't think so. I wish they'd trade him, love to see how he does on a decent team with a decent coach.
If Toronto were smart they would grab him to help fill in for the gimpy Matthews.

I think they should shutdown Ersson for awhile. Even if it’s months. Because whatever he’s dealing with hasn’t had time to heal correctly. If it’s a groin issue than it probably won’t be right until the offseason
How can they shut Ersson down when Kolosov is the only other goalie on the roster? :nono:

It is off base to blame the coach for him getting injured. He was deemed healthy. The coach played him.

Not sure how one can say he has been great. How are you defining great? Who else has been great based on your definition?
