[FIELDSET="QUOTES TO NOTE"]

We worked our ***** off. If I can say that?
- Mats Zuccarello

I think we owed the fans one. They have really supported us here through a tough time.
- Cam Talbot

In the 2nd period, that was probably our best four-lines, six-D period in a long time. I rolled four lines.
Each line was playing very smart and simple. They were doing the right things with the puck.
- Alain Vigneault

Yah right lol. "Booooooooooo"

I remember when Eddie went through a rough patch several times and Villemure stepped in. Richter also had a rough patch before he won the cup

I thought Brassard and Richards combined nicely tonight. I don't know if AV put them together on a line, or if they just got stuck together during a few changes, but there was definitely synergy. Otherwise, hopefully the lads bring it tomorrow night, and then have something extra to celebrate during the break.

Any thoughts on having Brassard center Richards (LW) and Kreider (RW)? I figure that, if the first two combine nicely on their own, their productivity could benefit from the speed and strength of CK. Or would you say that CK's speed and north-south game would desynchronize the pair?

Win and we are a .500 Team again. Yippee
I see The Cigar Man mumbling"we're still in it" throughout Christmas While he foggily contemplates how to acquire Heatly, Hemsky and Havlat once the deadline freeze IS over. Oh Boy. LGR - someone put that ******* Phaneuf flat on his butt too.

I forgot including a trade for Spezza for major assets. A wonderful hoilday season Sather classic. Ughhhhh

They will be thinking of sugarplums and presents and mommy kissing Santa Claus tonight, so blowout loss.

I'm excited to see Cody "Just as good statistically as McDonagh" Franson. Leafs fans keep telling me what a stud he is, and I trust their judgement completely. :sarcasm:

Going to keep an eye on Gardiner. He could be auditioning for a new job tonight.

Probably going to end up going tonight, just can't figure out why tix on the secondary market are still so ****ing expensive :shakehead

Hoping to see back-to-back wins. First trip to the Garden this year :)

LGR

I said at the start of the homestand that anything less than 12 points would be a fail. They have a chance to get 8 points. Fail.

They beat Buffalo in Buffalo and they are up by 2 goals against the Devils and that horrible Janssens goal occurs. Since then it's trended all downhill. Nice win last night, but they'll only have a chance to go 3-4-2 and get 8 out of a possible 18 points during the longest homestand of the year. And thats IF they win. Disgusting.

2-5-2 would put the icing on the cake for this homestand. I would hate to see that, especially for the fans who are going tonight but you can almost see it being a fitting end to this stretch.

Here's a nice pessimistic trivia quiz...

NYR are not far off the pace from having not a single 20 goal scorer over an 82 game season, what was the last time in a non lockout shortened year that a team finished without a single 20 goal scorer?

This game is actually important one in the standings, since it seems that Toronto will be one of the teams we'd be competing with for wild card spots. Win tonight, they'll be 2 points behind Toronto with a game in hand. Could be important when we get to the end of the year.

If that holds true, that is absolutely brutal. The scary thing is…it actually might end up BEING true.

“@stevezipay: #NYR Appears Cam Talbot will start B2B vs Leafs tonight at MSG. Only Lundqvist on ice taking shots from Marc Staal, Taylor Pyatt. Stay tunedâ€
