This is going to be rough.

And did Quinn really go back to 4RH shots on PP1? Dumbass

Kakko is playing.

at this point I want Strome traded who I like solely because Quinn is hurting the team by overplaying this guy in spots he shouldn’t be in.

he shouldn’t be facing top 6 centers and in front of Chytil.

he shouldn’t be glued to Panarin. Imagine playing all year with Panarin and having 6 goals while he’s got like 40 pts? How’s that even possible?

and he most certainly shouldn’t be on PP1

I'm fine with shielding Chytil for the moment. He is only just starting to feel his oats. Need to keep the confidence sky high. Long run, I think you're right. But I'd be extra careful with Chytil, particularly in light of what's going on with Andersson and to a lesser extent, Kravtsov.

I feel the exact same way about Strome. I like him and I think he can be a valuable depth piece on a good team. He should be a 3rd liner and PP2 player.

Instead Quinn has him glued to our best player and uses him like he's a legitimate top 6 center, which he's not on a good team anyway. Quinn's love of him and using him above other players and in a larger role than he should makes me hope Gorton moves him and takes the toy away from Quinn.

It's a shame too bc Strome should be a story of redemption off the scrap heap who we all love because he cost nothing and can be a Brassard in 2014 (3C and big contributor in that role) for us, but instead Quinn is using him like he's actually a peer of Panarin and not a leech off of him.

Strome seems to be buying into the hype as well lately - constantly dipsy doodling and trying to make circus plays and passes. Not to mention his lazy back checking and horrible defensive zone effort and decisions. Quinn uses him like he's a responsible and solid 200 foot top 6 center but that's just not the case. I swear to god it seems every game a goal is scored against us with Strome coasting back and not remotely trying on a backcheck and then his man scoring (happened last game and glaringly seared into my brain in OT vs Boston). Or a giveaway trying to be fancy in his own zone (recently vs Toronto).

Strome used in the appropriate role with the appropriate level of responsibility - 3c, PP2, occasional PK time, can be an important player for us. Unfortunately, Quinn thinks he's more than he is and it's making a player who should be a positive into a negative.

Strome is doing exactly what he should be doing as a stopgap, and increasing his trade value while he does it.

No complaints here.

I'm only concerned if we were to screw up and give the guy a contract extension. But his presence is useful in that it gives us roster flexibility to move guys around. He plays a lot of PK minutes too. By the time he's moved on hopefully Chytil will have solidified his game as a top 6 player permanently.

Imagine someone telling you this past offseason “Artemi Panarin would be playing on a line with Strome and Fast”.

Considering this franchise's history of difficulty in fitting pieces together I would really have only been surprised by the Fast part.

We did pair Gaborik with Christensen and Jagr with rookie Dubinsky/Isbister for substantial periods of time.

Same, I have absolutely no issue with Strome protecting Chytil’s development without added pressure to produce and/or facing higher competition. Chemistry with Panarin is just a great bonus.

This game marks the start of vacation. Don't f*** this up Rangers.

Coach is absolutely clueless on the PP. If and when he gets fired it will be a big reason why.

Watching some power play goals from earlier in season why can’t they just go back to Kakko on the right and Panarin on the left?

No excuse for playing a righty shot on the right side of the power play. That needs to be Kakko, Buchnevich, or Chytil. Ridiculous decision by the coaching staff.

I’m all about keeping Lemieux/Chytil/Kakko together. I think there is plenty of room for chemistry there. Line combos are fine for tonight.

It was their best power play, it actually was rolling pretty good during that time.
