I'm sure I could Google it and find out, but I have always wondered what you are quoting/referencing for the blurbs you put next to Ellis in every GDT.

I like to imagine they are all Beef original creations.

Anaheim is an awful team with a good young goalie playing over his head.
Flyers are playing great hockey at 5x5 since Thanksgiving when Torts set the lines.
They should avoid taking penalties and decline all power plays.
They have been playing safe hockey for the majority of that timeframe. Since December, they’ve had a positive xG +/-… but that’s predicated on a good xGA and a lousy xGF. For reference the 50th percentile for xGF/60 is about 2.5, depending on the model you’re using.

They have been bad in the offensive production aspect during that time. We’ll see how well that goes for them long term.

Scott Laughton, ladies and gentlemen.

I don’t know how you can look at the lack of offensive production on this team and think, Farabee is the one that needs to come out…

I mean I actually do know, but it’s dumb

They made a huge jump since Torts settled on four lines.

Problem is while the Cates line has steadily improved, the other two top lines have been inconsistent.

Part is chemistry, not sure Couts is really a center anymore and Frost hasn't quite clicked with anyone.
TK, Tippett and Michkov (with fresh legs) are clearly the three best of the top six forwards.

But they have 50 or so games to work it out.

Frost on pace for 40 points, Tippet on pace for 51. While Frost gets punished for mistakes and Tippet gets free reign to be awful for 20 games at a time.

They definitely are not. The most clear giveaway so far was "All hope abandon, ye who enter in!"

I imagine it'll become clearer once the torments begin. I want to see if I can get through the whole thing, one triplet at a time, before his contract ends.

Have you ever checked out the line combo stats for games? You can end up scrolling forever. There are not four settled lines.

There were 11 or 12 line combos that played at least one shift together last game; 23 total unique tracked lines. Vs only 7 or 8 for the Penguins. Probably more like 6. 16 total permutations.

Last 14 games (when the Cates line was put together) they've pretty much played 4 lines;
Farabee - Couts - TK
Tippett - Frost - Michkov
Foerster - Cates - Brink
Laughton - Poehling - Hathaway
During that period, they are 7th in xGF/60, and 1st in xGA/60.
11th in HDCF/60, 3rd in HDCA/60.
9th in Sh%, so they seemed to have learned how to finish plays.

Last couple game Torts has been shuffling the first two lines, especially with Michkov playing less due to dead legs. He's said he likes Couts at LW. But who plays center then?

The two lines aren't playing badly, but they don't quite add up.
The Cates line is playing out of their gourd.
The Couts line has been the worst of the four, though they tend to get the toughest matchups.

Eventually Briere will make changes, but no rush, Farabee has picked up his game, so you wouldn't want to sell low, get a better read with a bigger sample.
