Barton’s development is being wasted in the Taxi Squad. He should play over McKegg. McKegg is an AHL lifer force into the NHL cause of his past draft status. Why else do teams keep signing him? He is not that good

I honestly think it's mental. He looks like he lacks focus/mopes. When he feels like he's the backup

I think he also gets rusty technically. He has spent a few years now with not much live action. Which is fine for a vet but tougher on a young guy. Though I agree there is probably a mental aspect too.
