Haven't read the whole thread so maybe it was mentioned. But Helleson had a superb game. He's the type of player who you don't notice unless you really make a point of watching him which is a huge compliment.
Funny how a lot of us were resigned to losing both him and LaCombe to the NCAA loophole, and now both should be penciled in every night.

Is Mac back ? Now has 4 points in last 5 games. He's brought himself up to 16 points in 29 games and that is what a 44 in 82 game pace ? So he keeps it up he could end up pacing for 55 to 60 points in 82 games if he played a full season.
He hasn’t played too well until recently but his struggles this year have been overblown on the whole imo. Like he hasn’t been as bad as what I’ve been reading. Similar to Terry last year.

Oddly, I've also noticed he has been twitching less.

It seems crazy but... could the two be connected?

Told my brother I'd buy some Ducks merch if they managed to get the comeback. Like a bet against myself.

I dunno. A functional PP is going to be at best 1 extra goal per game statistically. Need even strength production.
Ya but i also think a decent PP could help avoid some of those momentum issues too.... hell scoring on powerplay should help with confidence at even strength too.

But I agree we need another top 6 player (even with a healthy zegras)

I think after this game they are either last or 2nd to last in the league for the PP.

But yeah even a decent PP, and the players would have a lot more points.

This team breaks my brain, by most measures we are downright garbage and yet we can out shoot the Oilers 2 to 1 and keep the game close
Last 5 games... weve outshot every team cept the knights( essentially tied them)

Ducks 33
Flyers 25
Flyers win 3-1, prob shoulda been a win for us

Ducks 32
Knights 33
Knights win 3-1, Prob coulda won that game

Ducks 30
Utah 25
Won the game, kinda ugly... but thought we were the better team

Ducks 32
Aves 23
Aves win 4-2, thought we shoulda won this game

Ducks 31
jets 23
Won game 3-2, deserved to win.

Prior to that was that game we had no buisness winning(but we did) vs Blue jackets where we were outshot 42-27

On the broadcast they were saying that Trouba has like 20+ more shot blocks in the time that he’s joined the team than anyone else on our team.

I think that contributes to our shot differential and explains why it feels like we are still bad despite outshooting teams

Helleson has been solid, have to say that I don’t see the manson comps at all though( for those of you that have made that comparison ) but maybe as he gets more confident the physical play will ramp up.

Stylistically nothing like Manson…. He’s closer to hampus lite.

I feel like his game is pretty simple, not overly creative offensively, but sometimes the simple play is the best play.

He’s not very physical but he uses his body wisely in the dzone, he’s got good skating for his size, and he makes quick decisions/reads in his own end, and seems to be aware of what he’s going to do in all situations.

I think efficient is prob best word to describe him.

That was a satisfying win, especially against those divers, after I was ready for a blow out during the first 5-10 minutes. The special teams still suck, but 5-on-5 they played great. And good on Stroke for getting the GWG. I feel bad for ragging on him for not finishing his chances.

Congrats to the chicken-eating fans. I hope the app works this time! Do you get until tomorrow to redeem your sandy considering Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays?
