Where'd you get that picture of me?
Though that would have been decades ago, the CRT is an accurate take.

This is a myth. Torts is not a defense first coach, that would be more Hakstol.

He stresses defensive fundamentals as the base off which players should take chances, for example, he encourages D-men to be aggressive in the O-zone, but expects the forwards to be aware of a D-men low and to swing high to cover for him.

Most of his teams were never among the top in defense.
If you think it's a myth then you don't know Tortorella that well. He has self admitted that he has no idea how to coach offense. He stresses staying above the puck at all times. Requires F3 to always stay high in the zone. For crying out loud how many times did he start 2 D men on OT? In the biggest game of the season last year in the last game of the season and a must win situation. Played Poehling 19 minutes as his 1C. His entire career he has favored grinders and checkers over offensive players. To this point, Hakstol has better success with less talent than Tortorella has with the Flyers.

It's weird with this team. First periods are almost always excruciating to watch and third periods are almost always fun and exciting. They almost always score most of their goals coming back in the third (aside from nights they get blown out).
If this team could play for 60 minutes they might actually be good.

Played well enough. Had the 3rd assist on the Cates goal. Also, tj missed a breakaway pass from him and he had a spin pass to the crease that created a chance. Pp was beyond useless though (not shocking), not his fault though
Thanks! 👋
As german Flyers fan I'm not able to watch too many games regularly, good to have you guys here sharing some insights. 👍

Hit the “Show Ignore Content” button then. At your own peril.

He obviously had a big game yesterday. However, Tippett is a flawed player. He is a one dimensional goal scorer. His goals predominantly come from individual plays using his speed. He lacks the ability to play off of his linemates. To jump into soft spots in coverage and get open on cycle plays. A lot of it is also coaching. As the Flyers are one of the worst coached teams in the NHL offensively. Both 5 on 5 and on the PP. Other than a forecheck and individual improvisation. They have no offensive structure. They don't work scoring triangles, don't effectively move the puck and switch sides and all the other strategies than lead to quality 5 on 5 opportunity. There is nothing wrong with a 25-28 goal scorer. That player certainly has value. However combined with the limitations of his offensive game and his normally putrid play away from the puck. It was a mistake to sign Tippett to an 8 year deal. He is not a player worthy of that term

@BiggE @VladDrag @DancingPanther @landsbergfan — do we all see what’s happening in this thread right now? This is like some Freddy vs. Jason shit out of my nightmares.
To be clear, I missed the username at first. This wasn't ignored

TK is in pace for 97 points.

Tippett is on pace for 54 points.

What are we doing here?
Last ten games, Tippett 11 points (7 goals), TK 11 points (4 goals), Michkov 10 points, Foerster 9 points (5 goals), Laughton 7, Cates 7, Frost 6.

It's a long season. Scorers tend to go on hot and cold streaks.

The point, which you obviously know and are avoiding, is that TK is clearly 2-3 steps above where Tippett is as a player.

TK gets a ‘pass’ because he’s a much better player than Tippett.
