It wasn’t a regulation win so it doesn’t really count. So the trick was that I needed to not watch
Ahh..my bad.I was joking about "there is more there" with Cates
As a person who only watched the third, I had fun and I was entertained.
Torts can eff off for stapling Frost to the bench though.
et Tippett is 25, Probably reaching the point that what you see is what you get
MM no point again, how did he play? Is it some kind of bad luck streak atm or struggles to keep going his early pace?
Neither Tippett or Konency produce more offensively than they give up. Frost is not a shooter, he is a playmaker and his best position is center.Tippett created both of Frost's goals, he's the one who drives that line. TK makes as many brain dead plays as Tippett, but he wasn't traded for G, so he gets a pass. Both players are similar in that they produce more offense than they allow on defense, and just as important, flip the ice on a regular basis. Tippett has incrementally improved, at times now he looks to pass too much, but he has become a better passer. 25-30 goals a year is easily worth $6m.
Frost has a good shot, starting to think he's misplaced at center, might be better at LW where he could focus more on scoring and less on driving a line. Problem is Couts also needs to move to LW, and Lycksell deserves a shot.
Lycksell looked really good, last year he was serviceable, this year he looks like he's taken a step up. Started slow in LHV, but kept improving and finished on a hot streak before being called up. If he can sustain this kind of play, Briere will have to make some tough decisions.
Ersson and Kolosov must drive Torts stone raving made. Two or three really tough saves followed by a "Mr Softee" at the worst possible times. Growing pains.
Cates has been playing really well since he was put on a line with Brink and Foerster.
He's faster this year, top speed 22.43, up from 22.01, 21.78 the previous two years.
And he has great hands in terms of puck control and retrieval.
Zamula and Drysdale not a good idea.
Oh those faceoffs? NST
Cates won 11 of 16
Frost 7 of 16
Laughton 6 of 16

The clear Flyers bigger issue is a lack of talent. However, it doesn't take a high level of talent for a team to be solid defensively. This coach hangs his hat on defensive play. It's all he know yet the team is the 3rd worst defensive team in the league. I see the same mistakes over and over. I said it during the first season Tortorella was here. They will go nowhere with him involved. Hiring him has set this franchise back. He is the equivalent of a high priced interim coach. He did what Yeo should've done. That really was another poorly played hockey game. Mostly pond hockey on all sides. The lack of structure and strategy is appalling. Good teams have that; the Flyers aren't even close to it. Tortorella & Co. have been here about two and a half seasons and the play on the ice is still the same. Based upon that evidence it is doubtful that things will change as long as he's here. When you think about it, just what has Tortorella & Co done to hang their hat on here? Installing culture? The culture of poor play and haranguing the players. Last night a player who has been alluded to being a toilet seat won the game for them with his play. Great coaching there.
Where'd you get that picture of me?
This is a myth. Torts is not a defense first coach, that would be more Hakstol. The clear Flyers bigger issue is a lack of talent.
