And what's the reasoning for sitting around with your thumb up your ass without a stick? Why not just go to the bench and get a new one? I'll take the chance with a 5 on 3 for 10 seconds than a 5 on 3 w/ 1 pylon.

Cally and Stralman should not receive any minutes in third period. I hope Torts beats the living s**t out of them on intermission.

I could see stralman getting it but not Callahan. I mean this coach preaches shot blocking.

Newbury over Halpern is looking like a... intentional attempt to be worse?

So let's see...

No Spezza. No Karlsson. No Anderson. Alfie is 40. Neil is on one leg. Ziba, Silfverberg, Hoffman, Gryba, Benoit, Weiricoch... all rookies?

Nash, Gaborik, Richards, Callahan, Stepan, Hagelin, McDonagh, Girardi, Del Zotto, Lundqvist.

Yep, I'd have picked the Sens too...

NO excuse for this team.

Ottawa has way more speed throughout their lineup than we do and you know all the problems we have had with speedy teams!

This depleted Ottawa team got through their problem. Of course they are missing key players but they don't think about it nearly as much as everyone else seems to.
They got some new quality guys up and they carry on.

WAY better coached team imo. MacLean, being a protege of Babcock, is a much smarter coach than Torts.

Ottawa looks very prepared every game. I wouldn't be shocked if they made some serious noise in the playoffs. Even with their depleted roster.

MacLean attitude is not about playing harder, its about playing smarter.

Torts:"I tell the guys to meet us half way with their def play"

What he actually means is I expect you to all shot block and grind all game or I'll **** with the lines and ice time! Meanwhile ottowa playing a bunch of kids school us once again. We aren't going anywhere with this scheme and roster.

Fkn *******

It's not like the Sens are a bad hockey team, they've been doing this a ton of teams all season long.

Team does need to set it up, though.

Not trying to take credit away from Ottawa, but there's no excuse for our team being in the position they are going into this game in the first place. Not being able to take advantage of an inexperienced, injury riddled team is just another gripe. I mean, we've got the talent. When I say there's no excuse for this team, I don't mean because we can't beat the Sens. I mean because we're not even putting up a challenge. Because we're this bad every night. Lundqvist is the reason this isn't looking like the Pens/Jets game. This game just highlights the same problems we all complain about night after night. And still it's a winnable game, mostly to Hanks' credit. Regardless, even if we pull this one out, there simply isn't an excuse for how we've played this season.

Scratch Stralman and Hamrlik and put Gilroy and Bickel in on Saturday. They've been terrible lately.

Callahan should have swapped spots with whatever D was by Neil. Let someone with a stick pressure the pointmen.

Noob has been pretty good.

Just my thoughts on the game so far....

I don't think Hammer has been bad tonight, I'm still waiting to see him on the PP. He can't be any worse than Girardi.

I really hate the Ottawa Senators. They're all a bunch of third line talentless clowns; basically a team of Jason Chimeras. However, they're all fast, and it seems like in today's NHL, speed beats skill.

ottawa's being carried by one of the best rookie cores in the league, man. have you not been watching this game? their breakouts and passing have been getting behind the defence all game long.

We look slow as **** tonight. Ottawa is fast and they are beating us to every loose puck. It's a frustrating game to watch indeed. But we can win this.

In other words, "we're playing not to get blownout" "just keep the game close and lose close"

The problem we have is that our DEFENSE is slow.

Girardi skates in molasses. Del Zotto is average. McDonagh is great, but he's been a turnover machine lately. Stralman, average. Eminger, below average. Hamrlik, don't even get me started on his skating.

We need some speed on D.

I really agree with you. Prior to the injuries to Spezza and Karlsson, which came close together, I was calling for them to make some noise this season. They still can.
MacLean is a good coach, but in addition, look at some of their players. No offense to Kris, but they aren't a bunch of Newbury's.
