The headmaster of my HS right before I got there in 2000 had, from the 80s through the 90s, solved fighting by making it the rule that all fights be instantly broken up. The message being "save your energy for the real fight." Then at afternoon formation they'd have boxing gloves strapped on and they could either finish it for real or make peace. I wasn't there, but guys who were said it damned near brought fighting to a stop. A quick scrum in a hallway is a hell of a lot different form and actual fight with everyone watching. Dudes either chose peace...or hashed out their differences before losing control, to avoid the whole process.

So yes, take them out of the box and make them do it properly during commercial. Neither of them should get to have a break from a shift or two for whatever that was. And maybe they'll learn an important and valuable message that lets them grow as people.
