He’s already one of our best pp shooters….

Seems like a good pick, he’s got the one skill we lack for sure. I haven’t followed this draft too deep so I don’t know much about him. We took him in his range and it’s such a crap shoot late in the first.
he's going to a great league next season as well, though Maine has been down as a program for a while. Will be interested to see how he does against the Boston area teams, and UConn seems like they'll be solid next year as well.

Nadeau is an interesting pick. I don't really have an opinion about him at all because I haven't watched any tape on him, but the more that I think about it, the more that he intrigues me. In the late 1st, you're always going to get players with big question marks, but this guy at the very least produces at an elite level even if the BCHL isn't the best junior league out there in Canada. Much of his concerns are similar to Scott Morrow when we drafted him (though to a much greater extent with Morrow, who played against high school kids and looked basically like Bobby Orr), where it wasn't so much the quality of the player as it was about how to evaluate him relative to the competition that he played. Sometimes the true gems in the draft come from these peculiarities.

His shot is definitely the most intriguing part of his game. If he can round out the other areas of his game, his ceiling looks like it could be pretty high.

Also I wonder if we take a chance on his older brother with one of our late round picks just for the lulz.

From McKeens:

"He is a fast, sleek skater who has a great top gear and can shift all the way upwards in a hurry. His hands are dangerous, and he is self-assured about using them to try complicated things. He can play the roles of playmaker and shooter equally well and displays a very good understanding on which one is best to choose in any given situation. If you had to pick just one trait that stands above the rest, though, it would probably have to be his shot, especially his missile of a one-timer."

And....

"He is a diligent and effective defensive forward and doesn't get nearly enough credit for this part of his game. He really applies himself getting back into his own zone to help out with defending, and aided by his high-end skating he is a major disruptive force as a backchecker."

Finally.....

"Nadeau projects very, very nicely as a go-to winger in the NHL. Not only is he a fairly safe pick, there is also the real chance that his elite scoring prowess could carry over with him as his career progresses."

McKeens typically has a paragraph in the description of prospects that focuses on areas to improve, the downside of the player, or other challenges. There's not a negative word on this guy.

I like the pick more and more.

Caught a replay of XM's broadcast of the draft this morning and happened to luck into hearing this pick. Among their comments:

Highest variance of opinion from scouts in the draft from "blue chip prospect" to "won't be an NHL player." Highly divided.

Lots of talk about drafting out of the BCHL. They pointed out most success stories from there do not take a fast track to the NHL, so Carolina is a good spot for Nadeau because the Canes don't need him quickly. Give him 2-3 years at Maine, then a year in the AHL and you see what you have. Let him acclimate to a higher level of play.

I'm particularly interested in his development, because I think he could be a very sneaky good fit for us. Pure shooter work skull that should translate to the NHL? Maybe he's not the full package, but we don't need someone who is the full package, we need someone who will find the soft spot in the defense and capitalize on the opportunities that our upper tier passers set up.

F26:
Let's steer away from Evgeny; we may not be able to trade him or send him down without it complicating our relationship with Andrei.

Also F26:
Hey this guy has brother let's also pick his brother!

Screw that. I think Evgeny would be a great addition to our bottom six. With Svech signed for years now, this would be a great time.

Im going to have to wait to see him against Hockey East opponents before I get a good idea of how his game translates.

just hope he eats a lot of buttered biscuits up there to add a good 20 pounds
