I think I like it as a Flyers fan though York is hard to gauge. I’d like to see him under a coach that isn’t Tortorella before trading him but I’m not against it

The closest comparison I can make on the LA roster to Byram would be Alex LaFerriere. Of course he’s one of LA’s only right hand shots and is still young with some grit to his game and his offensive game is developing nicely. He is everything LA needs so I don’t think they would be in a hurry to trade him. One of the only four that has fought in the last couple of years.

I do not think York does anything for LA. I’m not a big fan of undersized defenseman to start with unless your skill level is absolutely top end. Of course he’s a Brisson client so Luc will probably want to trade for him.

I see Byram as a lower end top pairing defenseman that could be paired with Doughty. That is not a knock on Byram as he’s still young, and has room to grow, but there’s also concerns with his injury history. He could absolutely flourish over the next few years.

I do not see York as a top pairing defenseman at all.

Right right now LA should be putting Clarke on the second pairing, and I do not see York as a good partner. Clarke likes to roam and putting Matty Anderson on the second pairing would be just about perfect and really cheap contract wise for what the to bring this year.

That would leave big Edmundson and Spence for a third pairing.

Buffalo does not want picks or prospects and I don’t believe Spence is the type of Wright shot defenseman they need.

I value Spence in York, the same. But there’s no use trade in a right shot defenseman for a left shot defenseman in LA right now.

No shit. Cut Philly out entirely and you'd be closer to LA adding Kempe or an unprotected 1st than this is....BUT.....it's Buffalo so I'd expet Byram and a 2nd for Spence right at the draft. Keeps life spicy that way. Lets me know my calendar is free from watching hockey from about Feb until 2031 at best!
