Load management is destroying the NBA

AINEC

Inside the NBA addressed concerns from the fans in a graph. I have no idea who did the survey
but it was load Management by a substantial margin
“Growth of 3 pointers” was 3rd
“Gambling was 2nd” was 2nd
“Refereeing” was 4th

I guarantee the NBA and its owners know how serious this is. It is absolutely infuriating fans. especially if a guy makes $70 million a year.

Shaq was adamant about how serious this issue is with fans and the fact that star players are sticking together on the issue and not taking this serious is going to hurt the NBA beyond measure and he went at Embiid and Simmons, and Kawhi.

Search “Georges Niang Ben Simmons” and he talks about how not all players are on board with load management. He said Ben Simmons was at the team facility completely healthy, and simply said “I’m not playing” but was bragging about spending $1.4 million on a Porsche.
He said he despises Simmons and goes at him so hard every time they play almost to the point of blows and he hates the damage he is doing to the league.

Whole bunch of reasons why the NBA is hemorrhaging ratings but I agree it's load management and three point shots

The game just isn't as entertaining as it used to be, there's no more post game in the paint

There are no more plays. There is no outsmarting the defense to get a flawless basket. Back door alley oops, give and go's, High low screens. Inbound plays? They just don't look like they take any part of that serious. They just spread the floor, someone sets a high pick and figure 8 the shit out of it until some gets open for a 3. Where are the battles for rebounds, the block outs, following shots? The fundamentals of basketball are not even being considered at he NBA level. To me GS was the last team who looked like they were actually coached well. Again zone defense means guard a spot and not a player. Man to man defense leads to so many more mistakes to be exploited.

It there any player in the NBA who even gets double team regularly anymore?

When Ant Edwards and Ja Morant's athleticism is pushed aside and they're asked to play like Steph Curry, you know the game has completely lost the plot. This was always bound to happen with the emergence of analytics in sports, when a scoring action is worth 50% more points than any other basket, it would be suicidal to not take advantage of it.

I see two "solutions" to that.

1. Slam dunks are worth 4 points or
2. Eliminate the 3 point shot altogether and everything, except, free throws, is worth 2 points.

This league is currently running on the fumes of Lebron and Curry who are way closer to the end of their careers than their peaks. When these guys are gone, the biggest basketball star on the planet is Caitlyn Clark. The NBA is in big trouble if they don't figure out this thing soon.

I wouldn't go to that extreme. I think the rules of the game have regressed and have encouraged less skill and softer athletes. They should bring back hand checking and man D, no zone. Allow some contact off the ball. bumping with the body should not be a foul on the dribble, offensive players should be able to use their forearm to create separation. Excessive bumping or use of the forearm should result in a warning and then a foul. Flopping should be a technical. No more ticky tack fouls. Kicking out the leg on a shot should be an offensive foul. A missed 3 point shot results in no shot clock reset. Bring back illegal defense, no more zone. This way when the offense spreads the floor it opens up the lanes more and allows for more room to operate. When a player is suspended they must stay away from the team and the facilities for the duration. Can't sit on the bench or go on road trips. If a player misses a game for what ever reason they can't sit on the bench. They go to the nose bleeds like Hockey players. Players who miss more than 25% of games are ineligible for awards

load management, too many 3s, players don't care

What the NBA needs to do is establish a hard salary, no loop holes. Make it where teams can only designate 1 player with a franchise/max label. No player on the roster can make within something like 25% of that salary. There aren't 30 superstars in the league but there are 30 Allstar caliber players who in the right situation could become very successful and lead a team. The goal should be for every team to have a star to market to their fans and spread out talent. The only way you could get around the %25 percent cap is if they are your own draft picks. Maybe the only way you can exceed the hard cap say by 15% would be by signing contract extensions of players you've drafted. Drafting well should be rewarded. Let these be the core rules, work out the loop holes that would be involved, and allow all teams the chance of building a champion without worrying about as soon as a player spends a few season bolts for a handful of markets.

The reason why this would never happen in the NBA is about making all the money, not parity. All the teams make money regardless of how they do. There is no intensive to make it better. We as fans think our team is better than yours and we play the patriotic games of nationalism but in reality owners don't care as long as the business is profitable. A championship will give them a bump in revenue for a few seasons but at the end of the day they are still good.

I look at professional sports as a racket sold to us as competition.

NBA Cup final yesterday, OKC goes 5 for 32 from 3 and promptly lose. 70 three point attempts between the two teams.

For comps sake, the Jordan era Bulls averaged SIX 3pt attempts per game.

What is hurting the NBA is that its positionless basketball. Everyone dribbles, everyone shoots 3's, everyone dunks, everyone acts tough. There are no mid range shots, no one uses the back board, no more give and go's, no post moves, no rebound battles, no power. you are either a point guard or a shooting power forward.

Also the regular season is pretty much meaningless and even more watered down with the stupid play in tournament. That and the load management crap. It's not just 3s.

They should start the season on Christmas and go into July. You can start FA August 1st. Not like it's hockey where it's a winter sport.

I'm not sure how much it will help but it definitely would help somewhat I think. Beause one of the other issues is everyone is focused on football right now.

TV contracts, China, Fly Emirates, Jersey advertising, etc won't allow anything to change..

I think the league being run by the players ( hello there Mr. James ) is what is killing interest in the NBA.
