i dont think anyone would argue that the east had depth this year. there was a clear top 6 in the east and the rest was garbage. tampa being down 3-0 is surprising though.

I think the matchups just broke out unfavorably. I think BOS/TB and FLA/TOR and NYR/NYI WSH/CAR might have been closer series. NYI just gives the Rangers trouble the last 2-3 seasons for whatever reason. I think the game style matches up better than it does vs the Canes. The Caps too just match up a bit better to Carolina
