GDT: 3/30/25 Utah @ Hawks 3pm CHSN

The entire approach to the power play needs to be drastically changed it’s downright pathetic they aren’t playing to their speed at all

Just finished watching the game. Again, the Hawks really need a coach that just gets back to basics with these guys. They absolutely do not take care of the puck enough. Vlasic with a bad pass over to Levshunov, leads mishandle, turnover and goal. Donato trying to walk a guy at the defensive blue line, leads to a goal. There is a sloppiness with this team that a good coach would have ironed out.

Rinzel will be the Hawks best D man of this group. He skates effortlessly, can shoot the puck and has the long stick to defend. He is going to be a stud for a long time
wouldnt be surprised if you project out the core in 5 years that hes one of the most valuable assets on the roster, non zero chance the most, the attributes project well to playoff hockey

I agree with Bobby, he tries too many plays that seemingly work in the CHL but unless he's doing that with more speed he often traps himself.

Also where is this kid's insane shot? Is it his flex or something not translating to the NHL level? I figured he'd be shooting laser beams in the slot regularly by now but I don't see it very much.
I think he’s trying to figure out what sort of player he is at this level. He’s definitely not a volume shooter like ovi but with his revolving door of line mates this year you think he’d try to get the puck on net every time he crosses the blue line. His skating, like others have said, is definitely holding him back.

Kind of surprised we don't see more complaining about this, to be honest. I do think his shot has looked better since he's moved to RW, but being on pace for only 22 goals is a huge disappointment IMO.

Not to mention 9 of his 20 goals currently are on the PP which accounts for 45% of his goals. Compare that with the top 5 goal scorers in the league for context.... Really would like to see more offense out of him next year 5v5.

Draisaitl - 15 PPG, 51 total
Nylander - 12 PPG, 42 total
Connor - 9 PPG, 38 total
Point - 14 PPG, 35 total
Thompson - 7 PPG, 38 total

Bedard issue might be partially related to confidence. That talent doesn't just disappear for good, he might be pressing a bit. We've seen the snipes before that look like junior Bedard, he just seems to lack the same moxy he came into the league with right now. Maybe feeling some imposter syndrome a bit, his entire identity has been being a world class hockey player/prospect his entire life and for the first time he's struggling to be at that level. A guy like Misa or even Rinzel and some of these other high end prospects should take some eyes off him on and off the ice and that could do wonders to let him get back on track with a little less attention.

I think it’s all mental and frankly probably a bit of of stubbornness on his part. He knows how he talented he is and maybe feels like he’s one or two “one against the world” rushes from finally breaking through
