5.5 sounds like a lot, but it kind of isn’t anymore. The cap two years from now is what, 105 million, and only increasing?

5.5 is the new 3 million. If he wants like 6 years, then that’s the sticking point for me. But I’d overpay in dollars just because it’s not a guarantee they’ll be able to acquire multiple forwards this offseason.

Yeah if the cap is going to climb like crazy I'm not concerned about AAV at all on short term deals.

Being stuck with a overpaid 4th liner for 5 years would be f***ing lame though. I'd rather avoid that worst case scenario.

ya, I agree he should have been traded and yes I agree he should not be signed to a bad contract...my guess is the hawks will try and get him to take a discount of higher AAV and shorter term to stay with the rebuilding core...will see if Donato agrees or wants more term and $$.

From what I have read his wife is super happy in Chicago so who knows...well see.

He'll stick around next season, but his minutes should be more limited. No reason for him to still be PKing at his age.
