  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

It seems most of us were wrong. Lev was the correct choice and will be the #1 dman of the future.

That's not exactly how it went down.

There's no indication Lev was going to be picked top 5 by anyone else in hindsight, I've seen zero leaks/info saying he wouldn't be available at 6 or so. No one has come out with info from Anaheim, Montreal, Columbus that Lev was first on their board at their selection. They all appear to have gotten their guy beyond Celebrini falling.

Kyle threw a fine ass package for Demi at Columbus who made the mistake of passing on it (and I thought so at the time too that they would be the bigger loser in that transaction).

IMO, that package could've have gotten us Lev around 6+ and we could have had Demidov at 2. But to pull that off you need to know where the other teams will pick which takes the good old boys club insider type shenanigans. A young GM like Kyle was obviously figuring things out from the outside.

That's just conjecture, and I wanted Demidov badly. Levshunov was #3 on the EP consolidated ranking, he was highly coveted despite some of the rumblings around here , and you can't simply assume he would be there at #6 or wherever

Lev looks great. Crazy but on the 6v5 I honestly wince when the puck comes Bedard's way, he's too easy to knock off the puck
Only because 98 thinks he always has to make that extra move. He needs to play like a professional and realize that that shit seldom works. Move the puck low even though it may not be pretty.

It's not "simply assume" though. These things often leak. Scouts/Execs yak all sorts of things after drafts (and discuss things in real time on the draft floor). I have a very hard time believing that Sennecke wasn't Anaheim's top pick (outside #1) given his scouting position. I also doubt that after turning down the Hawks offer Columbus didn't have Lindstrom as their guy. Montreal it's tough to say but I'd bet anything if they had Lev higher on their board that info would have leaked given the amount of media insiders.

Anaheim was rumored to be high on Levshunov around draft time, for one. Impossible to say for sure about Columbus/MTL/Utah but at the end of the day, you can't play roulette with other teams' draft boards like that. You pick the guy you value more. And again I wanted Demidov really badly.

Yeah I’m pretty sure if Kyle took Demidov second that Levshunov was going to be a duck. It seems like a calculated risk knowing the Ducks weren’t interested in Demidov. This is Pat Verbeek we are talking about, he loves his big players.

Unfortunately Columbus went silly and took the big dude with a broken back, otherwise we’d have both. Kyle almost rolled a Nat 20

If you're cunning you make your move best you can before the draft. Kyle scrambled. Hawks had just about the best picks to throw around in the league (including this year's 1st).

I think Kyle's instincts were right. But if he had been a vet GM he could have had a play at pick two and either 3/4/5/6 before draft day with some insider info. I would have gambled on Lev falling further than Demidov. It's near impossible to pull that off on the floor, but before hand with a huge package you can net top picks. Hawks threw a great package out on the floor that got rejected for a player that wasn't Demidov!

Ain't no f***ing way.

Sadly he is probably right. These refs are essentially not accountable for their actions and many have big egos. Getting emotional on the bench will not help, probably hurt. It is a big problem that so many games are determined by refs incompetence.

Thank goodness the whistle gets buried in the NHL post season and fans get to see real hockey..

Lev pkayed realky weekk despite beibg -2 ( one of those the en late goal )..

3 hits 3 takeaways (outvofvtoatal 10 Hawkscgot).. ..onlyv1 shog but had many go on to the net front...1 taken away (Dobataxgoal cancelked) and but several onto stocks near the methinks could not cash in..
Kaiser fodvmit help hommout that mich..

Bedard finished at a Zero i plus/minus butcONLY 2 shog...Top gunner s (reasonbhevgotvdrafted) shoukd notvbe held to such low shot totals.. Just not an effectivec5x5 player..becoming just an odd man advantage guy..Not doninating but getting doninated at Evens..Needs extra open space but still does not get to hogh danfercskotcarea enough to release there..

He doesn't move fast or keep moving his feet with the puck with thec3rdcforwardcon homat Evens...Tries making pkayscfrom the printer ifvhevgetscto o-zone ..I do not know howcthey fix his flaws for Evebs pkay.

Bedardchadx3 hitsxthis hame..if an alleged scorer like him has more hits than shog then sknethong is very wrong.. You do nktcwantvlittlecshrinps hitting.. Tgey need to scoot around with tge puck..dish or release and produce scores.

Deviks forced 19 Hawks giveaways..Hawks forced onlyv10 by NJ..

Markstrom played better than Knoght .

Knight should have stopped 3 of the 4 he was in net for...

Also with the growing questions on if Bedsy is better as a C if we get Misa he could be 1C this team needs while we could have had two elite wingers and still needing a better C and missing out on a top D

Gonna get crowded if they plan on getting Rinzel some games too.

Vlasic-Rinzel
EDM-Lev
Korch-Murph
Crevier
Kaiser

Brodie for sure gets bought out in the offseason. Blueline is filling up fast.

I wonder if Murphy gets traded in the offseason. They may not even wait for the deadline.

would Rinzel make the jump straight to the NHL and not hit Rockford?

Is Rinzel's season guaranteed to be over before the NHL season is?

Minnesota is a strong team but in my opinion their goaltending will hold them back from getting a National title. So my answer is yes. They'll likely finish around the same as Nazar and Michigan did last year. So about 3-5 NHL games.

But if they make it all the way to the end will he get NHL games
