1. Vasy’s stats last year were good overall even if he fell off a bit towards the end.

2. we know he was playing through injury.

3. this year he is coming off a back surgery

i guess it’s possible that he somehow sucked for the last 10 years and we just didn’t notice but it just sounds a bit too ridiculous to me

All of that is fair and true, especially the ridiculous part. But regardless of how true it is, we still have to know what we've got in him now, post-surgery, because nothing about him looks like what we're used to. Hopefully it's just a mental thing that he can work through in the off-season and it's not something chronically physical.
