What's wrong with Sean? I'm a huge Torts fan, but his handling of Avery was just silly. He took the body, drew penalties, got in on the forecheck. He was quick, he killed penalties and he produced very well for a bottom 6 guy. Torts was a great coach and he did amazing things for this team, but that was one instance where he dropped the ball.

I'm not bashing Hank, I'm being realistic. He is easily the best goalie in the league below the hashmarks. He makes more saves in close that no one has any business making than probably any other goalie in the league today. But when it comes to soft wrist shots from the circle, he's a choke artist. This wasn't a glaring problem in 11-12 because most of those shots were blocked anyways, but Hank plays so deep in his crease that if his angle is slightly off, or if the puck is slightly redirected, he's not going to make the save.

You're not sending a message to anyone. The hit wasn't even particularly dirty. You play this team twice in a year. You're just retaliating based on an accidental hit that had a bad result rather than a malicious play.

Accidental? Didn't seem that way to me. And even if it was, it was a reckless hit involving our star player. You don't let that go unanswered.

In Avery's first 82 games here he had went for something like 20g 30a 50pts. By the end he was on like a 2-2-4 pace. His skill evaporated. He was a shell of his former self. He was still an agitator, but he's not the guy you're thinking he was.

By your logic we should not care if the game is 22349573957325-1 and never, ever retaliate if people are taking liberties with our players.
