Maybe if the big 3's (Mika, Pan, Buch) chemistry cools a bit, we'll see Kakko in that line... but this is just the 3rd game, we have a long way to go still for changes. I don't want to see Kakko playing with Strome either, but one of them is bound to break out soon

I was at a Ranger Oiler game back in 1984 or '85 I forget at MSG with my Dad and brother and most of you young one's probably never heard of him but those long time Ranger fans like me have, Grant Ledyard had the game of his life as he scored 4 points or so but it was all in vain as we lost the game in a shootout 8-7 blowing if my memory is correct a 6-1 lead...seriously.

Gretzky, Kurri, Coffey and Messier were unbelievable as was that whole Oiler lineup as this was the Oilers right about when they were ready to commence their dynasty. I know alot of you are too young to have witnessed them but the Oilers back than were unstoppable. If Corsi was around than, they would have broke the model....lol

Anyways besides waxing poetic, I bring this up because I got a feeling tomorrow will be a shootout as no one will be be able to stop the other. Prediction from me is Rangers 7...Oilers 5 in a barn burner.

Too bad I'm going to a wedding cause as I'd love to have watched this one live. I'll have to watch the replay on DVD...oh well. Enjoy the shootout boys...it's going to be a dandy!...

A little late replying to this post but you're probably old enough to remember a certain Rangers d-man Reijo Routsalainen? Before the season began there was some speculation in some Finnish hockey medias on whether Kakko could top Ruotsalainen's rookie season point total of 59 points. Former NHL player and Kakko's agent Petteri Lehto mentioned in his column in a Finnish hockey magazine how when the U-20 national team came to play in Turku, he skipped school to go watch their practice session because of Ruotsalainen (and Lehto's only a few months younger than him). Really praised his skating, how he couldn't believe someone could make turns without a jump and how it seemed like his skates never touched the ice.

that shift by Kakko was terrible. he just stood and watched. even on the break out he didn't put himself in a position to get the puck moving forward.

He’s a wizard in every situation. Such a treat to watch. He almost always makes a smart and dangerous play.

Agreed. He's got amazing vision and acts quickly. He makes everyone around him better. I like Buch, but he couldn't process at Panarin's speed, at least on this power play.

Why does Staal start dangling behind his own net when surrounded by Draisaitl and McDavid?

Starting to think he might benefit from some time in the AHL — at the very least for PP time and his confidence.
