I was upset too, especially at how NYR fans shit on Gabs once they had a flashier new toy in Nash. Until Panarin came around he was about our best big name free agent signing in the cap era.

But they did end up trading him pretty much at exactly the right time. He started to go downhill fast and Brassard ended up being a huge steal for us.

I'd bring Smith back right now on a 1-2 year deal as a utility guy. Maybe $1-1.25m per season. He's a solid veteran and good locker room guy and that will be needed in this organization. He's also a pretty solid bottom-pairing d-man

I didn’t watch the games, but I am hoping this is more Boston falling off than anything. They are without Pastrnak, Chara, and Krug don’t forget.
