Value of: 2C to Colorado

In terms of the conversation for the Avs 2C... I dont think Ritchie should be off the table, but if he's going you're getting someone with term and not a 33 year old UFA at that

Not sure who's available but I'd imagine Ritchie is the tier of prospect that shakes loose some names you wouldn't necessarily expect to see available.

Andrew Copp has been centering Debrincat and Kane. He’s exactly the 2C you need! For the low low price of a conditional 7th round pick!

Let's look at the Horvat trade:
- 1st rounder
- Isles Top prospect in their system at the time
- A middle 6 forward.

So give me this for Nelson -
1st Rounder
Top 5 prospect
and a mid-foward.
It's all in how you frame that though.

Raty may have been the Isles best prospect (I dont know) but it doesn't change his value to another team. He was a 2nd round pick that was trending decently but had and has skating issues.

Beauvillier was purely to get money off the books. Basically useless player that the Canucks had to pay to move off of with a yr I believe.

So ya if it were Colorado
1st
Olausson (similar level to Raty)
maybe like a Jon Drouin

Love the horvat comparison as if he is comparable to Nelson at this point. Horvat was 6 years younger when traded and having a massive season. Nelson is not having that type of season and is much older. His stats are down. I suspect he will get a 1st and a B level prospect. Not top prospect.
Thats all Vancouver got for Horvat

Nelson isn't going to Colorado - Don't want Mittlestadt at all...yet alone for Nelson. We would want Ritchie and we know Colorado isn't moving him. You need to find another team for a 2C

And of course there's the strong possibility that another reason is because Lou won't trade a great pending UFA...Just because one of his moronic no facial hair/only low number/don't announce when a player is signed principles that don't benefit the franchise he's working for.

As an Avs fan Olausson has literally no value. Dudes toast.

Ivan Ivan is honestly maybe more along the lines of a Raty comparable despite being undrafted. He's actually trending up and has shown he can play at the NHL level.

I suspect he's a guy a few teams will be interested in.

Colorado needs to shore up their defense. Mittelstdat Luke it or not Is here steady through this season. If they can insult him I’m sure he’ll get it turned around

What about a little ROR- Avs reunion?

To Colorado: ROR

to Nash: Mittelstadt
No thanks from this avs fan. He made his bed

I’d imagine Nelson doesn’t return more than ROR didn’t Toronto a few years back.

O'Reilly, a center, heads to Toronto along with forward Noel Acciari. In exchange, St. Louis receives prospect Mikhail Abramov, forward Adam Gaudette, the Leafs' 2023 first-round pick, the Ottawa Senators' 2023 third-round pick and Toronto's 2024 second-round pick.

Acciari was a pretty decent bottom 6 player that season too. I’d imagine Gaudette and Abramov were just contract balancing.

1st and a 2nd or 1st and a 3rd and possibly a flier tier player may make sense.

Just for the sake of the thread I’d imagine a 1st, a 3rd and Olausson would be enough to get the deal done. Olausson may be younger than the player coming back, but nonetheless I don’t think he’ll ever be an NHL player.

We all shoot for the moon with the prospect portion. But for UFA rentals who are probably looking for their final contract the following offseason, teams don’t give up higher tier prospects.

Nelson would be a pretty good add for Colorado. Not sure if cap could work though, could probably add a 3rd pick to get a team to retain some money.
