2C or not 2C?

I havent seen any shred of evidence that Beck and Kapanen can produce any of offense at the NHL level yet. So. No.

I dont want young scrubs. A scrub is a man that can get no love from me. Hanging in the passenger side of his best friend's ride, trying to holler at me.

Ice is earned my friends. Ice is earned.

Crosby …

Sullivan wanted to push forward and win.

Dubas wants to transition to younger team. Not rebuild, rather retool.

Crosby is getting frustrated with losing. NYR (Sullivan), Col (Mac), Habs are options if he wants out. Maybe a warm weather, tax free option too (TB with Guentzel?)

I wouldn’t be shocked.

well we're def not gonna find anything if we look at every good young player out there and compare them to David f***ing Desharnais
If Hughes trades for a 5 Foot f***-All player to be our 2C then it tells me he spent too much time watching pornhub on his iPhone in the press box during the playoffs instead of the games.

2C is still going to be a heavy lift for the habs especially if dvorak is gone.

Crosby was drafted almost 20 years to this day. As romantic as it sounds... I just don't know if this is the right move. A couple years ago, sure... but you are really testing father time at this point.

And yes, I know he's still producing at a high rate, but i don't normally see a gradual decline at this age... its usually a sudden thud. And you're also one injury away from having the 2C issue all over again.

Could a guy like Morgan Geekie be a poor boy Dylan Strome? Good size, played C mostly I believe previous to this year, good numbers probably inflated playing with Pasta but means he can play with talent. Bruins should be going rebuild mode - not that they enjoy trading with Montreal of course.

That could be badly received by Bruins fans. But the medias don't talk hockey that much in Boston. Yes it's possible, fans will not cry that much.

Kapanen and Beck just got their first taste of the NHL......perhaps you should be looking for the "evidence" that you seek next season. I think Kapanen has more offensive upside than Beck as he has better hands and is more creative.

Do you really think Hughes, Gorts and MSL share the evaluation method that you have put forth here?

I agree that neither one is pushing Evans out next season but both could surprise next season.

I think they do. Which is why they wont trade Evans/Newhook just to play Beck and/or Kapanen.

The good thing is, Beck, Kapanen, Mailloux, Reinbacher, Roy, Xhekaj, Tuch HAVE to steal a spot.

Which is fantastic

Yep, he is one of my realistic target too.

No idea what kind of contract he’s looking for and if Bruins would be able to give it to him.

I get not relying on Dach, but he is among possible solutions to this problem.

Dach without the injury issues would have been a very fun player to watch develop here with this group.

He's missed a ton of time and has been slowed down by injuries, but is still a young 6'4 centreman with less than 300GP.

Just pointing this out because it's like everybody has completely written him off. He wouldn't be the first big guy with injuries who became a late bloomer.
No he isn’t. The only reason people are still saying this at all is because he’s 6’4”. That doesn’t matter though because he plays like he’s 5’9”.

And the thing is, even when healthy, he’s just a terrible excuse for a centerman. He doesn’t play in the dirty areas, is poor defensively, not good along the boards or down low, doesn’t play physical, has average IQ at best, and he can’t win faceoffs. This season he was at 40.3% and it was his career high. His analytics are also terrible. And on top of all that, he simply doesn’t produce.

No team is going to win with a 2C like that. There’s no way to justify playing him at C again.

Dach pre-2023 injury was far from how you describe him, he wasn't soft and he did go in traffic. Heck.... lots of people thought that he would become MTL 1C overtaking Suzuki. But this year, he was not that man. Bad conditioning and no speed... That injury on the second game of the season change him.

Is he an option... he shouldn't be the top option, no. but in a world where we don't make a mistake by overpaying for a bad 2C... he's an alternative until a better option comes along. I personally want him to play W on the top 6. But that depend on his training camp and summer training.

Get a legit #2C with grit and two-way play. Sign Sam Bennett or trade for Anton Lundell. Acquire a #3 C for cheap, like Kotkaniemi instead of Dvorak.

Taken out of context. Funny how you only quoted that specific line lol

What's out of context?

Im not arguing Dach is our Lord and saviour. You go on a diatribe about how you've completely written him off (in part because he plays like a 5'9 C).

But just before that you say you'd be willing to trade Beck + 40th overall for an ACTUAL 5'9 C in Rossi.

It's the reverse Peter Griffin boat/mystery box meme lol

Do you not understand what the word context means? Read the lines before and after the one you quoted. It was a hypothetical.

Sure, you presented a case for why it wasn't a good idea (I'd agree), but then said in the end you'd be okay with giving up Beck + 40th overall for Rossi (I wouldn't agree).

There's no missing context there.

To be blunt, it's patently nonsensical to go on such a rant about how Dach plays like he's 5'9 while simultaneously saying you'd trade Beck + 40th overall for an actual 5'9 C.

Maybe Dach pans out and you're wrong, maybe he won't and you're right. But either way, if the issue with Dach is the fact he plays like he's 5'9 (your words), bringing in an actual 5'9 C doesn't make much sense, does it?
