2C or not 2C?

To the risk of being laughed at, I would go Crosby. He may agree to come here given his junior days and yes he is a great player still but he is old and if you give promising youngsters to pitts, they may agree. Beck-Mailloux, one of our first round pick, a package like that for a rebuilding team may be interesting
Crosby is the perfect world solution but it’s all hopes and dreams

Still, I can’t help but feel he is a guy they’re working toward

There is no easy option. Looks like everyone wants a young 1b center. Beniers would be my first target if Seattle wants to make more room to Wright. But at the cost, maybe it would be more reasonable to take a chance on a 34+ veteran and abosrb the cap and term.

If it does not work, maybe McCann, he would cost less and he's a center who can play on the wing.

Crosby would be great with the kids.
I still say it's win/win/win. Perfect for both teams. The Pens get a springboard on a rebuild. Get to go after Mackenna. Crosby gets to contend with a team he grew up loving. Montreal gets an experienced superstar who not only makes us immediate contenders but can mentor all these up and coming players.

It would be an amazing trade.

They're afraid he's gonna trade Rossi for peanuts. Sentiment is that Guerin doesn't believe in him
I wouldn’t give anything significant for him. I think he’d be a terrible fit here long term. If we could get him for say Beck + 40th overall, I’d be okay with taking a chance on him. Wouldn’t give more than that for what could end up being DD 2.0 lol

well we're def not gonna find anything if we look at every good young player out there and compare them to David f***ing Desharnais

I get not relying on Dach, but he is among possible solutions to this problem.

Dach without the injury issues would have been a very fun player to watch develop here with this group.

He's missed a ton of time and has been slowed down by injuries, but is still a young 6'4 centreman with less than 300GP.

Just pointing this out because it's like everybody has completely written him off. He wouldn't be the first big guy with injuries who became a late bloomer.

With our luck, Brady Tkachuk would probably smoke him in October and Crosby would be out for two seasons with post-concussion syndrome.

If he can stay healthy then he'll likely get a chance to get back into the top 6.

If we get a "stop gap" 2C this summer then he'll be a potential 2C option alongside Hage whenever the stop gap's contract expires. And if Laine gets injured or struggles next season then I'd imagine he'd be the first guy to get a shot on the wing on the 2nd line.

HIs contract is also up after this coming year, so this might be there the Habs brass have to decide their long term vision for him on the team.

I guess all I'm saying is as much as Dach stepping into a 2C role seems unlikely, it wouldn't shock me if in 3 years Dach is a better player than some of the names being brought up here.
