Andersen used to be an above average starting goalie that choked in big games. He hasn't been that in 2 years. Jack Campbell needs to play a lot when he gets back.

The only reason this team is where they are this year is a focus on defense. If they don't do what is needed in this department, they will lose far more games than they should, especially in the playoffs.

Obviously it was a bad loss, but I really don't think it was for lack of effort or bad play.

We straight up dominated the first two periods, and were the better team in the 3rd. We didn't give up a crazy amount of chances (I'd even argue we were good defensively), AND we created a crazy amount of chances.

We simply didn't get a save while Hogberg came up clutch in the 3rd. Its not even like I'm blaming Fred either, it was kinda just "hockey" tonight.

Keefe is too soft. Goalie is never pulled, stars are never benched. He has more flat out humiliating losses in 60 games than some coaches have in an entire career with arguable the most talented roster the Leafs have iced in decades.

In pro sports there are levels to the players the same way there are between pro's an non pro's. And among pro's Andersen is a loser. He's not untalented but when the going gets tough he mentally shuts down, it's the same as a boxer who's a world beater in the gym and a choker on the big stage.

I don't know if it's because he's a 6'5 maybe he's a really charming guy or maybe really intimidating but there are way better goalies that have way less rope than he's gotten in toronto. The guy never gets called out ever by anybody for consistently terrible play in big moments.

The SH goal was a terrible giveaway.
One of the goals in the third (not sure which) was a result of Vesey going to the bench to get a stick while the puck is in his team's zone.
The breakaway was the result of a bad pass by Big Joe.

This is what I said pre-game about the problem with complacency. This is like that game against the Devils (last season?) where they were cruising into the third and just decided to play pond hockey and Jersey almost stole that one.
Old habits die hard I guess.

Freddie sucks but he is complacent like a lot of other players. Hopefully this is a wake up call
Feel bad for the vets and guys that put a real effort in like Hyman, Matthews, Marner.
Defence seems a bit off, they should be better.

3rd goal on perfect luck beak out of the box
4th goal on our player getting the stick slashed out of his hands on the PK with no call
5th goal a weird bounce in the air batted in.

These games happen but I expect chicken littles to be running around for a while.

Damn Natural stat trick is down but it looked pretty one sided game.

Andersen's blocker was on the ice before the shooter made any type of move... just a horrific angle on that breakaway. He was asking him to shoot blocker, and then didn't move.

Not sweating. After the David Ayres debacle this isnt embarrassing at all. I dont see this worse than any other loss right now. Sucks losing to the sens but take the point, watch some tape. And go out and dominate the back to backs before laying a statment game on he Habs

This is the type of loss that can send a team spiralling. Blink and we could be in third next week.

Two goals where Rielly is doing who knows what instead of trying to stop the breakaway pass... He is last man back and just follows a guy towards the side of the ice. He is dumb as a brick.

His IQ drops to ZERO when there is no oxygen supply. Happened to him last game vs Montreal on the game winning goal. Doesn't have the calm factor.

Great game by our captain and nylander for example. Against this type of gargabe D.
