Yeah, I'm on board with the stressful/fun scoreboard watching. This is the most invested I've felt in the team in years. I can't remember the last time I actually yelled as loud on my couch after a goal as I did when Faulk scored last night. I'm going to enjoy every second of it.

I'm not saying I like our odds, but I like them better than I did two weeks ago. It's juuust enough to get me scoreboard watching again, but as I said a few days ago, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much unless we get to the Islanders game with about 88 points. Might need to revise that to 89 or 90 at this point, considering sportsclubstats.com predicts a 75% chance if we finish with 94 vs. a 25% chance with 92.

It's a tall order to be sure. Normally, I wouldn't get excited when they need to pick up that many points in so little time. But since they've gotten 18 in their last 11, it's hard to tune them out at the moment.

Check back with me in a week. I'll definitely know how I feel by that point.

If the Canes were 6-7, and 3-4 in OT and shootouts respectively, they'd be tied with the Bruins right now. Goddamn skills showcases and the Canes general lack of skill.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying don't get invested in the games. I was out of my seat for that Faulk goal too.

I'm just saying, no matter how the out of town games play out, we have to almost run the table from this point forward. Out of town scores and daily fluctuations in our odds are nearly irrelevant. The only thing that matters is that we drop no more than maybe 2 points from now until the end of the season. If we can get through the toughest of the hurdles (that 4-game stretch upcoming) without blowing it, then at that point we're close enough to really make those out of town results crucial.

At least we get practice on our maths.

Personally, I like to take my emotions for a walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

The man is quoting Gansta's Paradise, which is the sort of thing that we, as a gang, should be right on board with.

I'm telling ya guys, tracking every single day like this is going to drive you crazy and break your heart. Needing two teams to help you out AND beat the team that just beat you last night, just to get up to less than 25%, is no way to make the playoffs.

I say take it 3 or 4 games at a time and re-evaluate at the end of each set. This 3-game set is @NJD-DET-DET. Frankly we needed 6 points and have already failed to do that. If they can win tonight and make it 5/6, then that at least gets us to the next 4-game set with a hint of a glimmer of a hope.

The next set is CBJ-DAL-@PIT-@MIN. That's flippin' brutal. Chances are we don't win three games in that series. We need 6 of 8 points for sure, even better if we can pull down 7 of 8 considering the deficit we're fighting. If they can get 6+ in that sequence, THEN it's time to start scoreboard watching as we head to the last set (NYI-STL-@PHI).

That's my secret, THH. I'm used to getting my heart broken.

I btw love how he first warns us from doing this thing and then proceeds on to do the rest of the run himself.

Does anyone get that stressed over opening an app or site to check a score? About the worst for me is I say darn and either move on or check again later.

I can't recall doing any such thing

Not you. tarheel.

Unless you really are one same guy with multiple accounts and this Global Moderator thing is a desperate bid for moderation that you obviously would be lacking in your life if that was the case and you slipped it out now as a cry for help?

If that is the case, sorry, but we can't help you. We can't help anyone. *the opening riff for Hotel California swims in*

Sorry given Breakdowns earlier quote of me saying something to that effect plus you responding directly after me, I'm sure you understand my confusion.

Now leave my multiple personalities out of it. :sarcasm:

Maybe you need to read the post again or something. I was pretty clear about what I meant and it didn't contradict itself.

No, there are upcoming games listed and point projections and expectations.

The fact that it comes with cries of "you fools, we're all doomed!" is merely a technicality.

Hey hey hey- I am not sure who said that- it was either you or tarheelhockey - I just remember that it was someone who is Global Moderator :D

I need to be honest, I am looking at these scenarios all the time as well, it`s not often lately that we can do this!

Ok, so you do indeed need to go back and read the thread because you've completely lost the plot.

I'm really not saying you were contradicting yourself or anything there. Anyhow, eight games to go and we would have to win three more than Boston will and at least two of them on regulation so it's not like it's looking good for us.

But the stats-watching itself is fun, the fun if you will at this point. Our round robins on international tournaments are usually rife with that stuff just to sort out the brackets, and it never was more fun than in 2014 when our sorry lot shockingly didn't have the qualifying in their own hands in the end.

You suddenly find yourself deeply invested in totally other guys' playing. It's beautiful.

I wanna see the Canes drub the floors with an exhausted Wings team. Kick them while they are down. If they can't come out tonight and dominate the pace, they never will.
