I’m not sure Carlsson should be playing yet.

Could have used a conditioning stint in the AHL to get back into sync. He's had good moments and bad moments in the same shift too many times. Flashes of goodness, but the problem is they're flashes and then it goes away.

Stayed late at the office but watched from my phone. This struck me as a game where Anaheim was trying a lot harder and probably saved gas in the tank for Toronto, while the Leafs kinda half assed and played down to the Ducks.

Agree with @Ducks DVM, maybe it was too soon to put Leo back in. He looked rough, a conditioning stint with the Gulls wouldn't have killed anybody. A lot of the same problems as last night. Only thing to write home about is the effort level was higher for longer stretches.

Fire Cronin. Next.

well at least it wasn't a blowout?

agreed that leo would've benefited from a conditioning stint. he hasn't looked right these last couple games

LaCombe had a post-game highlight and interview. He played 19:09 at ES, 1:03 on the PP, and 2:12 on the PK (most on the team). His response to why he has improved and his answer was, "Confidence." I'm glad that Cronin self-reviewed that he was too hard on LaCombe last season and let LaCombe continually build confidence on the ice.

The telecast shared LaCombe splits between the first seven games of the season to now and it's a drastic improvement. LaCombe now has 5 goals on the season and becomes tied for 4th in goal scoring with Strome.

First 7 games: 0g + 1a = 1pt, ATOI = 16:47 and a -6 rating (I think he was paired with Gudas.)
Next 14 games: 5g + 2a = 7 pts, ATOI = 19:23, and a +5 rating

We really coulda used his score I. The last 90 seconds schtick today though

Baby steps.

Our last 90 seconds was rough. The Leafs did well clogging up the boards to prevent the puck from popping out. And when it did pop out, Carlsson neatly gifted the puck away. Fortunate the puck missed our net. For the life of me, why were trying to pull the puck back with 0.6 seconds left? I would have figured we would just shoot the puck like Getz has often attempted with time running out at the FO circle. Smart on the Leafs to just drop and hug the puck at the drop with 0.6 seconds left. At least if we tried to shoot the puck, then the Leaf would have paid for it with an incidental whack.

It looks like LaCombe was carrying Gudas tonight. The Terry line plug-n-chugging away still. Also, when comparing our card to the Leafs card, this should not have been a 3-2 game, but much worse. Great job on Dostal fighting off the Leafs and the inability to suck in pucks tonight. Great effort in the last two periods.
