Why do I have three legs?

The Duck doesn't. It is walking around drunk after eating an obscene amount of Taco Bell splurged over with an inordinate bunch of hot sauce packets to make believe that is a third leg. Then the Duck realizes it's producing its own version of a soft serve ice cream that is hot sauce tinted to match its own legs.

Huh... guess that sums up the Verbeek-Cronin era.

You do realize we have to be good to actually suck again. We haven't left region of suck-titude under Verbeek.

We started to suck worse in the five games prior to Fowler's return. Anaheim faced only one above-.500 team in that prior 5-game set to where it should have earned a record of 4-1-0 (8 pts). Instead, we struggled to a 2-2-1 (5 pts) against three weak teams in Buffalo, Seattle x2, and Ottawa. We had to go to a shootout with Ottawa.

With Fowler back, the team has gone 0-3-1 (1 pt). It should have been 1-3-0 (2 pts) if Dostal didn't have a mental lapse on a loose puck behind the net. We continue the bad trend of struggling against sub-.500 teams.

Fowler returned on the Dec 4th. We were having a difficult time generating offense consistently before Fowler and that lack of offensive production continued when Fowler returned. Fowler has contributed to scoring in two games, including the SOL against Montreal to earn a loser point.

Conclusion: We had a suck-ass team with or without Fowler.



Minty Tangent

Our worst defenders are Minty and Gudas before the Trouba trade. Gudas is our worst defender, but Minty struggling as a youth needed a rest. I would prefer to healthy scratch Gudas, but that would never happen. One of them needed to be healthy scratched.

Last night's game, Minty was paired with Zell. Cronin figured replace a youth with a youth and things should go well. Minty and Zell are OFD's still learning how to play defense. That duo had to be separated in game because they were not working. Which should highlight LaCombe's defense being very underrated.

Fire Cronin and promote Clune to Interim while we look at permanent candidates
Find a trade for Fowler ASAP even if it means losing out on return. Relieving the logjam seems more important right now than maximizing his return.
And the final one.... Probably trade Gibson with retention. I wanted to say trade Johnston but he can be benched and it doesnt cost you much of anything. Different problem for a different day.

Probably going to similar to others but:

1) Fire Cronin, replace with assistant coach for season
2) Trade Fowler for winger
3) Find a way to remove Killorn. A buyout is 2 mil for 6 years. Yikes. I would eat half his contract and trade him with a pick. He is the definition of a player who should be removed even at a loss. I would even do the buyout if it meant he stops killing every single play.

I don't think I could get any of the needed trades done in that time frame, so I'm gonna pull a Bob Murray.

(Would've also run the Vaakanainen-Terry-Johnston meme line for a shift but alas, that dream is dead. Can Helleson play LW?)

Hey, as long as they get it out of the way early. Last night was the first game this season where I completely gave up in the 1st period. I watched it later and once that second goal went in, I turned it off and checked the score. It was an hour of pain I saved myself.

I can handle losing 3-2 if they look like they did against the Kings. But hopefully they'll put it together.
