If the NHL must have back to backs, they should make one of the filters for the schedule maker that teams on game #2 in 2 nights must play another team in the same situation. That would preserve fairness...unlike the situation today with the Ducks coming in rested.

That being said I think an 82 game schedule could be implemented that doesn't have any. Make the season October 1st to April 10th. That's 191 days more or less, depending on the year. To have breaks between all games you'd need 164 days minimum.

So you got 27 days left over for the few Holidays, All-Star break and tactically placed rest days.
So why do we need B2B's? Get rid of them and improve the quality of the season.

This would prevent some injuries, and I'm sure the players would appreciate it. Exhaustion would be less of a factor in results.

Pens just had like 4 days off. B2B's happen. All teams have them.

You know how hard that would be?

We are literally out the best line in the league in recent years in GMR and still playing pretty good in general and in a playoff spot rather comfy.

I like it.

Hope to see even more from Kasperi "lotta mustard" Kapanen.

I'd be ok with losing this one as long as Ducks score a few more creative goals that drive Torts off of TV and into reclusiveness.
But it is about the GAME, as Torts said several times. Much more of that nonsense and we become the Harlem Globetrotters, whatever the hell he meant by that?

Can PIT make it 2 solid wins against 2 solid opponents in a back to back?

Great to see Sid and Kappy putting things together along with Jarry.
ERod is putting a strong case up to be our most valuable forward.
Marino and Petts have been our best pairing, while Dumo and Letang struggle for consistency game to game (more good than bad though).
Can CDS follow up his best (last) game with another SV% > .920?

I also think we can award Letang the most improved PKer as he went from 11.6 GA/60min (PK time) in 2020 down to 2.0 GA/60 this year. If you want to know why our PK is so good, Letang went from our worst PKer in 2020 to our best.

CDS is going to be tested this game with the Ducks young scorers…also the Pens D won’t be as tight going into the b2b because the legs won’t be there, guaranteed….this is where playing Simon and DOC only a lame 5 minutes last night really hurts…a 4th line you can trust needs more minutes with a 3-0 lead against the Caps than Sully provided…

A couple of thoughts on the Torts comments:

1. People are allowed to have varying opinions about the game.

"I'm worried about losing the game" - Torts
"Malkin is not playing winning hockey" - Season Ticket Holder

2. Torts's job is to get people excited about hockey on ESPN. People are still talking about it. He did his job perfectly. And unless your're a real rube:

3. If you are a player or coach and dont like plays like the michigan then play better defense. If I was goaltender and someone tried the michigan on me i'd swing my stick around violently high "playing the puck". If the follow through hits the guy in the face so be it.

Especially with other events in arenas all across the continent, it would be hard to do.

I like the back to backs honestly because its just part of the game imo.

Its total keyboard experting to think the scheduling could be better.

then one team would be traveling on top of that, making it even worse.

Sometimes it's an advantage to be the rested team but how many times have we been the rested team only to get out skated by the other team that played the night before? "We couldn't find our legs!"

It goes both ways.

Ducks in Pittsburgh less than a week before I'm in Pittsburgh
Pens in Anaheim less than a week before I'm back in LA.
:ha:

I mean...I really won't complain about missing out on the annual Pens in SoCal swing considering I'll be in Iceland in January and I wasn't planning on even going to any games this season anyway...but still, curse ye schedule!

Just finished watching the caps game... the pgt is closed already?
Theres another game tonight!?

I work, but I always watch the games the next morning in peace and quiet.

Very nice handing the capitals only their second regulation loss at home this season.

I like Kap'n'n with sid. Rod looks very impressive out there.
Heinen and McGinn both scored last night....
Jarry looked incredible and even got them their EN goal...

I love rivalry games.

Now let's hope the penguins don't come out flat tonight. Not to mention a home game, where they are 50/50.... on top of a b2b rivalry game.

Not so long ago ERod was being widely castigated. Turns out Sullivan was right I guess. Imagine.
