Carlo has become a whipping boy for bruins fans this year but he’s playing too high up the lineup from what I’ve seen. With him on the third pair or as edvinsson as his partner his game becomes a lot easier. Plus he’s still relatively young, and he should bring great leadership to the team. To me it’s a no brainer, and I know he’s in division but he’s a guy you could have on your back end for another 4-5 years easily.
Yup hes my pick for d , still locked up 2 years so if asp makes it next year we can ease him on the 3rd pair if need be and move Albert back to the left

I'm all for carlo , try and get him without a 1st ... 2nd + 4th + wallinder?

What you think the cost would be?

At least Rasmussen can play on the 4th line and still be an effective player. Veleno brings nothing to the team. Berggren is a guy who needs a change of scenery, not a bad player by any means but just doesn’t fit the way our team is built. Guys like Fischer and motte also need to go, they just aren’t good enough. Maybe bring fischer back to be 13F, but motte is irrelevant.

A guy who I could see the wings really liking if he hits FA is Brock Nelson. Give him 6 x 3 and trade compher and suddenly you can start moving guys down the lineup to where they belong.
Ya veleno is 100% gone... I dont see berggren here longterm and if hes included in a package deal for a big player I dont care. Otherwise keep him another year since his value is crap

I'd say one of compher copp is gone for next season along with tarasenko ... yzermans gotta ditch some guys

I think he’s gonna cost more than bruins fan think he’s worth. Either a late first or 2nd plus a B prospect. But the bruins still want to compete, so there’s a chance that they want a good roster player in return rather than a prospect. If I was in their position I’d keep Carlo and hope he can bounce back, but he’s also one of their only decent assets they can move to upgrade their team. They are in a tough spot, they have good core pieces but they are getting older, and they have 0 prospects looking to join the team that can make a significant difference. Their only path to contention is trading their futures away but if they do that they might end up in purgatory and have a 10 year plus rebuild.

Ya if I'm Boston I'm keeping him but like you said they have 0 prospects so if there gonna move him I'd try to entice them with wallinder and a 2nd maybe even berggren if need be

I'd try and keep that 1st incase we need it for a bigger move like cozens etc... I dont know why and I know there's a 0 percent chance he gets moved but my gut is telling me for some reason pettersson will be a redwing by Friday

Canucks are such a disaster atm and he clearly doesn't want to play there... maybe I'm being influenced cause I took him 3+ shots on a bet the other day and he literally got 0 shots lol

He doesn't want to be there ... anyways I expect a big yzerman move at least by the draft

Here’s a trade for you guys, 2025 1st (top 10 protected) becomes 2026 unprotected 1st if it conveys, Berggren/veleno, and a 2026 third for Owen Tippett.

(Just saw he has an 8 year contract, do not remember it being that big, we’d need to add a decent amount more).

If Yzerman gave Maatta that contract, I'd be so pissed

Oh really? Don't know about you, but I'm more pissed about the contracts for Chiarot, Holl, Gus and Petry. Yes, Maatta would be a little overpaid (a little.. 3M for a solid defensive Defenseman isn't actually too much if you look around the league), and the cap is rising.. imho that's a very good signing for Utah.

Sure. Let me rephrase - should've never signed those two and just have kept Maatta.

Have you watched any shift they play?
Since the coaching change, I have been totally fine with Gus' play. I know posters like to dog on him because they think they won't get any pushback from others, but he has been more than fine for his usage.

Maatta is what he is, a slow, average size, defensemen with above average intelligence and little offense. We aren't missing anything there. More importantly, if we are looking to upgrade Gus, we would be having the same conversion about Maatta.

My money says that Holl was untradeable without retention given he cleared waivers.

I dont remember been watching too many videos and podcasts ... I can't see how they get a 1st

heard now Edmonton might look to move kane if he comes back before the season cause they were counting on his money to make moves

He has one year left and if we took him on for free I'd take him. I know ppl will complain about his attitude but we can use a power forward like him

Be more the endless bottom 6 guys I'd be trying to part with. 1 year 5 mill I'd do it

And if we suck next year or just try and move him for whatever reason and hes producing at 2.5 mill we'd get a good return

Could be an option
Taking him for free still comes with the risk that he badly disrupts the locker room chemistry.

I would definitely be on board taking that risk though. I’d even send back a 5th round pick in the trade for him.

This team lacks grit. Even Fredric for a 3rd +4th I would do in a heartbeat. A 2nd round pick for Fredric seems a bit steep for a player of his talent level, but if that’s what it takes to add something we don’t have and really need in this organization and on this roster. Then what the heck let’s do it.

There's a key word here...

$13M+ is literally between $13M - $14M/year.
It's not close to 14 though. It's like saying 1 is close to 10

I understand you're arguing semantics but saying they offered between 13-14 makes it sound like they were offering in the range of 13.5 when in reality it seems like they haven't even gone over 13.

I just don't understand how you can be mad at those contracts. We are not a contender and you need to insulate rookies with vets. Those contracts are also coming to a rapid end.
But Albert and Simon are gonna need contracts here soon.... just as those other Dmen expire.... hmmmmm.

It's not that those dollars are hurting financial flexibility. It's that Holl has been trash, Petry and Tarasenko have been trash adjacent, and Gus, Chiarot, and Compher have ranged from mediocre to bad.

Had the front office identified a handful of NHL veterans with 5 or 6 out of 10 talent as placeholders, I'd applaud the strategy. But collectively they've been 3/10 talent that cost the team a playoff spot last year and might do so again this year.

Detroit with 3 scouts at SJ-TOR game. Would have to think they are looking at someone off SJ

total guess...but what about Ferraro? Has another year left and is still just 26 and seems like the type Yzerman might like..
He’s a guy I wanted going back to last years deadline.

But they are trash in (mostly) non competitive years, brought in to teach 18-22 year old kids how to be a professional. Same with Perron. Same with Kane.

The playoff spot was lost last year because the team couldn't get behind Lalonde and his system.
A much more "I hate this move" argument that holds weight, is how long we held on to Lalonde.

Plus as much as the fanbase wants it to be, we are not at the playoffs or bust stage yet. Although we are approaching that point of the rebuild at light speed.

Buffalo is a complete joke. Literally everyone should be on the table. They suck and have always sucked.
They overvalue their players incredibly. If the players were that good they wouldn’t be a basement level team

I have a feeling we trade for Timothy Liljegren i don't know why.
I wanted this as well when Toronto were moving him.

I'm still of the mindset that if there's a rumor about it - it's not a trade that will happen. Can't wait for the random ass trade out of left field for a player no one even talked about or even knew was available.
