I really think it's time to put ed back with seider. Play them 27, 28 min.
Play chiarot with AJ on the 2nd pairing for 17ish min. Play 3rd pair for 12 min.

Larkin has to figure things out. He was so bad tonight in every way possible. Saturday is a huge game. No excuses for him (and a few others to not show up). Id like to see steve make a move now if he's going to. Don't wait another week.

Larkin and Raymond needs to play less minutes, very often their shifts are too long. Those two play too much hockey lately.

Chiarot and AlJo would get absolutely annihilated. I hate it, but unfortunately I don't think we can reunite Ed and Seider without having 2 AHL pairings or bringing in another top 4 D.

If SY waits too long, or dosent at all, to make a move to improve the roster he needs to be held to account..
What do you even do? He's not getting fired and I'm not even suggesting that; I'm genuinely asking... 'held to account'

What does that exactly mean? Everyone gave him a pass last year why not again this year, I legitimately think he can screw up next year and he'd be back the following season before he gets fired. IF they do bad after this season it's most likely because his draft picks stalled out as average players vs the trend Seider/Raymond/Edvinsson have made.

I'd really like them to make a move and make the playoffs, I think they're just feisty enough now to make some noise which is why I won't be super upset if nothing happens, and they just call up some younger guys like Lombardi/Tuomisto/Mazur and see what happens with them. Lombardi has stepped right in from injury producing. Him and Tuomisto imo deserve 'shots' to make this roster and if they're upgrades over guys, we have now idk if a trade is needed too badly unless it's a major piece. It's kind of why I argue against the buy-low guys... it's like, for what? We've got guys in-house who might be better than guys currently playing on the roster(Holl/Motte/Veleno/Fischer)

JT at 2nd line for the rest of the season isn't going to cut it. I think it's contingency time. See how low Adams would be willing to sell Cozens.
Would love cozens or even Pettersson but I don't even know how we get it done. We don't have similar aged roster player to send back

We'd need a 3rd team involved I would think especially for buffalo cause I can't see like a compher waiving to go there

Yep, if Ras is back on Saturday and functional, I think unless someone gifts SY a player he wants, the most likely move will be to sell high on a team that needs a JV or Motte/Fischer or something like that.

Maybe a swap of JV for Jake Evans (ie. do a solid for JV, like Kostin last year), but like Ed last season he will start tapping the yutes they think are ready or real close to come up compete with plugs.

I cannot see a big move out there unless SY elects to sell cap space, but after the deadline, the 23 man roster limit disappears,

SY has 4 open contract slots (for cap weaponization if he choses or College grads) so even though the wings are in a race, I can see some adds and multiple cups of coffee for the 4 person AHL call-up limit after the TDL, maybe even a game of two for some last season adds from SHL if there playoff season ends early (please no knee cap injuries).

The condensed schedule will be affecting all teams, we'll see which ones have real depth by early-April, the good thing about everything being so tight, is the rental market will be real slim for everyone.

Not saying we will see 3/4 yutes in every game for a month or so, but I can see 1-2 per game after next Friday, especially if the Griffs have a spot all but locked up. The kids will learn, the vets get some rest and some youthful exuberance gets injected.

Just maybe, like Ed last year, a kid or two steps up big time and earns a spot outright this year, or at least eliminates the need for some new plugs next year.

Sometimes, the best moves you make are the ones you don't....yep, not making it to the show will be a major disappointment if they don't, but making it using in-house resources be huge in the long run.

I want a big player at the deadline but I'm watching kyper and some guy mentioned pageau for the jets and how hes obviously overpaid but wins 60% faceoffs and kills penalties for 2 minutes which we need help with

Has one year left 5 mill ... if the price is like veleno and a 3rd maybe add a 5th next I'd do it ... wouldn't give up a ton for him but could be a small addition that can help

Obviously prefer a cozens pettersson

{Please tell us exactly who is available at the moment and the cost of acquiring such players in terms of specific assets within the organization. It sounds, given your expectation, that you are privy to this information.

I will never understand why people think that Yzerman can just unilaterally "make a move"? Does he have some magic stone I don't know about? The absolutely dumbest thing Yzerman could do would be to just make a move because some idiots in the fanbase are clamoring for 5 games of playoff hockey.

One of these days people will actually watch Cozens and figure out he is not actually a center. One of these days...

I actually wouldn’t hate this. Yes he is in a similar mold to Copp and Compher, but going into next year if we can get a legit 2C I wouldn’t hate copp-pageau-Compher as a shutdown line against tough matchups.

Christian Dvorak was also one name mentioned... for defensive duties.

He has also good history at Faceoff dot.

Man, I'm glad that Stevie is in the front office and we are here on these forums. Because if he schizophrenically and reactionary flew off the handle every single time there was a bad shift like these threads do, the Red Wings would be made up of a collection of 58yo Hall of Famers goaded out of retirement, a handful of super talented midget Double AA that we're mentioned by a scouting magazine, at least two 14M+ AAV contracts given to unproven 24yo who have underperformed but were highly touted pre-draft by TSN, and ... Andreas Anastasiou...

By "held to account " I simply nean tough questions...

I agree nobody has inside info, whether it's SY and Detroit, nor any of the other GMs/teams...

I don’t think we will make any big moves this year. Maybe if we had proven we are a legitimate Stanley Cup threat but we haven’t so far. To get a name player we are going to have to give up some important building blocks like Danielson, Augustine, or Mazur. Prove who we are first by making the playoffs and then maybe deal our young assets

Honestly, with how Danielson has been playing in the last 5 or so games, maybe he should be the big move. 6 points in his last 7, including 3 goals. And he's already quite solid defensively, so I don't think there's a lot of risk there.

I'd like for them to bring him up for the next few, see how that works, and then they can still make a move before the 7th if they need to.

It depends on how the game of chicken unfolds as the deadline approaches. The longer that buyers wait, the more likely that sellers consider lowering their prices versus risking a guy walking for nothing in the summer.

Don't fork over premium assets unless it's for a long term quality player. But if the market eventually permits, I'd have zero issue packaging a second or third rounder and a depth player or second tier prospect for an upgrade on defense or a middle six forward, even if they're a rental.

Now if suddenly Rantanen hits the market and things get crazy, that's a different story and it depends on who offers what. But Detroit's resurgence this season should absolutely result in a playoff berth, and I don't see the problem with spending a little per the above in order to help that happen.

Bad idea IMO. He's finally gaining some steam production wise - let him flourish in GR for now.
