I wonder if Chicago are willing to trade Connor Murphy, would be a pretty good fit.

Assuming that the cap floor is around 70 million they might be inclined to take on some salary aswell.

Wallinder, 3nd and Holl for Connor Murphy

Next year:
Johansson-Seider
Edvinsson-Murphy
Chiarot-Gustafsson/ASP
Doesn't he have some groin injury?

Wallinder for Murphy straight up is a no.

EK65 on the block officially.
Ed-Seider
Chiarot/Gus-Karlsson
Gus/Chiarot-Johansson
Holl as 7D

Next year, we'd possibly have
Ed-Seider
Chiarot-Karlsson
Gus/Johansson-ASP

Holl in the press box

If we get Karlsson, we'd be pretty decent on the blue line. I wouldn't mind an 2D upgrade on the left side, but I'm sure almost all the teams feel that way.

Personally, I'd pair EK with Ed on the 2nd pair. Ed is mobile enough and sound positionally to let Karlsson pinch and make plays. Either keep Chia with Mo on the top, or move AlJo up.

What’s considered a valuable asset?

Any 1st or 2nd and your ASP, Danielson, MBN, Kasper, Cossa, Augustine, Buchelnikov’s of the world.

In a vacuum giving up a 2 for a rental is fine but we should be leveraging those picks for larger packages to bring in cost controlled assets here for the long term.

That second pair is disaster. If you want to get Karlson Better put him with Seider, someone that good at defense. EK is a special player and needs special treatment

Detroit should not be trading any valuable assets for aging vets or rentals. If a guy comes with team control, that’s a different story.
Id love aging veteran like Josi play for Detroit. You don't get those kind of players for nothing, something should go other side. I agree with you about rentals though

Ya I definitely agree with that. I think moving a couple 3rds for a C and depth d-man makes sense

I don't think he's a great locker room player. He doesn't like being #2 and definitely not #3, he seems to drag teams down. I don't think it would be worth it trying to get him at all. Our pp doesn't need him and he won't help our defense. He's also declining. I don't think he fits our system or even what our coach wants out of players, accountability and back checking and playing hard every shift.

We already have kane, we don't need back end kane.

sounds like boeser ask is a 1st in 25/26 and a prospect that should be making the league next year or recent first round pick.

on pace for 30 goals, can get 40. UFA but by what VAN fans are saying, he is a loyal guy and will most likely resign wherever he goes too.

1st '26 + Berggren + Veleno? (I don't like veleno, would be a toss in, sue me)

we don't really need another winger, but I forgot where I heard it (maybe when DET was playing on espn last week) but they made a throw-away comment that Berggren could be a good trade bait for a more experienced winger. Kasper on the first line has been fantastic and I think his confidence is through the roof right now, but what if we moved him to 3C now and tell him he earned his own line?

x/tank/ras? - Larkin - Ray (tank might be too slow for 1st line 🤷‍♂️
DBC - Compher/C Trade (cozens?) - Boeser
tank/x/ras? - Kasper - Kane (tank played LW on FLA for a bit)
fourth line

Maybe throw in tank and have VAN add Pius Suter? Always loved Suter and he's been consistent.

If we trade for a center like cozens and we still hold compher somehow, then he could go 1st line LW, tank/ras switchoff third line, and have a 4th line of whatever works with soderblom.

In a world where they're not all our players, would you trade MBN or Danielson or ASP or Kasper or Cossa for Berggren + Veleno?

depending on team need,, but to be honest with you, I don't believe this scenario equates. Maybe I'm obtuse or ignorant in that, but I'll take my chances there.

If vancouver wants to trade boeser, as has been the rumor mill for years it seems, then getting two younger players that have NHL experience (again, threw in veleno because I don't like him as a player) instead of most teams offering unproven talent, could be a better pill to swallow from VAN stand point as Hughes has said he wants to compete for the cup. So you get younger by 3 and 4 years with one having a lot more potential upside and has shown/proven the ability is there, just need the minutes and linemates.

Yzerman and FO never indicate who they want to trade or don't want to trade, so if we go under the assumption that most players are available for a price, then Berggren is an easy target. He never gets top 6 minutes where he belongs because of his skillset. Trading boeser for a berggren + 1st rounder gives you one NHL ready top 6 minute player + the ability to shoot your shot in the draft. Berggren + EP40 could be an enticing conversation for VAN since ep40 has been in his little whiny slump.

I am truly ecstatic for Danielson/ASP/MBN in basically that order, but MBN has done absolutely nothing in NA. I remember when Pulky was supposed to be our PP Ovi based on potential and shot, but how did that go? Sometimes the talent continues, sometimes it doesn't I guess. So, gun to head and had to choose, then I'd do him.

Then again, I still don't believe the scenario equates. All those prospects do not have the same experience as berg/veleno. I'd argue berg has higher upside than MBN purely because of exp. Give berggren a play driving center with a goal scorer oppo wing and you could have an amazing line (which is why I've advocated for berg to be with Larkin and raymond in the past).

Could be an idiot and don't know what I'm talking about, but I also said hronek and walman would be traded when it wasn't exactly a popular opinion around these parts. Of course, I was thinking walman was going to be a part of a package for a goalie like Markstrom or Hanifin or something, but that's neither here nor there.
