Great Now some oilers fans want oleksiak lol... more I think about it more I like it. Cant are miller and hague being available atm. Oleksiak also wouldnt be a rental. 6'7 can be physical and play alot

Was much better with dallas than Seattle, were on the up and pair him with seider and I think we might have 2 solid d pairs

Don't hate oleksiak for what he would bring, but could it be said that he is just a taller chiarot? Legit asking, haven't seen him play as much. I do remember him being pretty good on dallas and remember him somewhat on pittsburgh but haven't seen him play at all on seattle.

If he is just another chiarot but taller, then I would rather just keep chiarot if it takes more than a 1-for-1 to get him with chiarot going the other way.

Unless of course they take something else like holl+veleno. I would do that deal because then we keep chiarot who hasn't been playing bad at all, have him and oleksiak switch playing with seider here and there to see what fits best, and all of a sudden you have a solidified top two lines on defense with the third pairing not being totally useless.

oleksiak - seider
ed - aljo
chiarot - petry (if he ever comes back I guess?)/gustaffson

I would love to see gustaffson out of here though. not more than holl, but almost equal.

He hasn't been as good as he was in dallas but seattle is also a much weaker team. He's capable of playing a ton of minutes and can I'd say hes be a food shutdown dman to pair with seider who can then be more free offensively

I'm sure we can convince them to take gustaffson in the deal. Rather get rid of holl but thay way gustafsson is off the books next season and we can buy our holl to get another spot for wallinder/tuomisto/buium

I'd prefer miller ,hague but I think oleksiak could be a good option and likely the one to move. Hes got an extra year so wouldnt be a rental. Obviously wouldnt give up a 1st ,2nd rounder is highest I'd go

Reactions: Detroit Knights
If Nashville is doing their rebuild plan, I'd take a look at ROR and/or L. Schenn. Both were guys I wanted in that 2023 free agency class and could shore up the 2C/3rd pair RD positions. Just wondering what either or both would cost.

been wanting schenn since he was on toronto and probably even tampa.

I’m probably in the minority, but I’d actually re-sign Lyon. Cossa may be doing great in the AHL, but is he ready for the workload that will come with backing up a 38 year old? Is he ready to jump from 1 or a handful of NHL games to 30? 40 or 50 if Talbot has a big injury? We’ll be fighting like a dog for a playoff spot, is he ready for that pressure? He’s a huge kid at 6’6”, is he absolved from the concerns about big guys taking longer to arrive because he’s a goalie?

I don’t know. It just seems like a lot of risk to take on with Lyon sitting in our laps. We could probably get Cossa ~15 games next year just through injuries and scheduled rests for the 38 year old. (We’ve already used our 3rd string goalie 8-9 times this year.) And with the cap going up so much over the next 3 years, any contract we give Lyon would be negligible by comparison ($4.5M to compete with UFA suitors?). It also gives us one more asset to trade if we re-sign Lyon but Cossa proves next season he’s ready for a solid workload.
