Would love to have Byram. In light of these Buffalo/Wings rumors, how would folks around here feel about pursuing someone like Byram? Incidentally, feels like Berggren would be involved in any kind of trade here.
Definitely interests me but not sure I'd pay a premium to get him because his health just scares me a bit too much. It is good to see he finally played a full season last year, but I am always leery when it comes to concussion issues.Would love to have Byram.
This isnt really a thing. Teams in division make trades in the NHL all the time.Thanks. Just seems very unlikely division rivals with the same general contention window would make a deal right now.
Byram would help a lot but if the wings are using assets I would really hope its for a forward. If Cozens could find his game a bit, he fits the style of team the wings are building but it would come with some risk for sureIn light of these Buffalo/Wings rumors, how would folks around here feel about pursuing someone like Byram? Honestly I find Buffalo to be a tough trading partner because our needs are the same. Would I love to have Byram? Yep. But when I start imagining a deal, we don't really have pieces that Buffalo should be interested in (that I'd be willing to move). We both want to add young effective players, and add quality over quantity. The pieces we have that appeal to the Sabres are Larkin, Raymond, Edvinsson and Seider. They don't need unproven guys with potential, they don't need futures and they don't need third line caliber talent. That's all we have to offer. In light of these Buffalo/Wings rumors, how would folks around here feel about pursuing someone like Byram? If Chiarot got traded , for example for prospect our defense will get worse, that is pain I willing to take, as long as we get #3 defansman laterNo deals that make the defense worse in the short or long term, please.
Byram SeiderWould love to have Byram.
Tommy Novak would be an interesting pick up. He has two 45 point seasons but is struggling and buried a little ways down Nashville's lineup.
He seems like a good change of scenery target but Im not sure if Nashville would be ready to give up on him.
I am very interested in landing one of (or multiple of) Cozens, Byram, Samulesson and a few other guys that seem less likely.
Maybe Samuelsson for Rasmussen?Something around Berggren for Samuelsson maybe? Berggren, Albert and Veleno for Samuelsson + a pick?
Considering the Red Wings defense right now.Maybe Samuelsson for Rasmussen?
While I may have a false impression of Rasmussen, I don't know much about the player he is, but I would like to replace Greenway with him to provide some physical presence and defensive play.
Well, our defense is not much better, if not worse.Considering the Red Wings defense right now.
Sure. SOS.
Do we know that someone on our team blocked a NY trade? I saw that before it had been Trouba and then Trouba's recent comments made me think that we had never tried to trade for him in the first place. Is there news that I missed?I would put whomever blocked the trade to NY on waivers, if they have a NMC bench them until they accept the unconditional buy-out.
It is time for Yzerman to start taking big cuts at this thing. If the player has no value, move on from him and inject youth we need to see. Being a lottery team needs that focus, especially if you’re not blowing it up for rebuild #2. The time has come, it is either that or fire LaLonde right after Christmas. I felt gross writing that but honestly he should have been gone in November and failure to act earlier has put this on Yzerman at a bad time of year. So the tough call and timing needs to happen.
I think we are beyond just a coaching change. You moved on from players that weren’t working hard enough in part because of requests from the room. Well they all aren’t working hard enough now, this really needs a pretty violent shake up in my opinion. Several things need to change entering 2025, one of the key ones is Yzerman’s patience.
It is time for us to start featuring prominently on this waiver list, guys are not being held accountable. Front office, coaches, players need to be forced into accountability. We are Buffalo if we don’t do that, add another 6 years of pain. I appreciate the cap setup for the future, but we are creating a culture of losers.
Trouba bounced it in the summer and to be clear he is pretty transparently trying to place his family in a big city with a booming medical presence for his wife which makes sense. So not sure if he still wouldn't have picked other options over us, but I do remember hearing we had a player New York was willing to take on that was unwilling to go to New York in season.Do we know that someone on our team blocked a NY trade? I'm with you that we need to make some changes. We needed to a while ago. Sign some college UFAs, bring up some kids from Grand Rapids, make a few trades, we need to shake up the room.
More than anything I'm tired of our defense. I don't want to watch Chiarot, Petry, Holl and Gustafsson making up 4/6 defenseman every night anymore. Bring in at least 2 more guys that can get it out of our end. I don't care if they can't clear the front of the net or defend a rush. I just hate watching 40 minutes of dump and change hockey every single game
Every trade deadline and offseason comes and goes with no change. When free agency opened this year we were shopping for fourth string goalies and GR backups. Not sure who is expecting something, anything to be done at the TD.
Last year was fun but I think some of you are forgetting December and that absolute trash run in February. Even at the end we were barely beating teams like Montreal. We had change last year. It was the first time in a decade that the team had a personality and identity. It was so fun to follow
Then Yzerman chose to get rid of all the players that brought that. And all of those players are doing really well elsewhere
The 2024 offseason is gonna be one to remember for all the wrong reasons. An absolute disasterclass
If you build a roster with the main purpose of avoiding risk, this is what you're left with

They absolutely had the same things we have seen this year. It's just they shot at a high % to hide their flaws for so long. Remember losing to the Sharks? Ducks? Yotes twice? Sounds familiar.
and forgetting the constant posts about how our offense was unsustainable and would eventually come back down. Fair chance we're seeing that this season, and that last year was just an outlier.
