More interesting as the deadline approaches, is who’s going to possibly have their contract terminated over the next 2 weeks, so he can sign wherever he likes?
Hearing it’s becoming a legit option for Tarasenko in Detroit, after it looks like he nixed a deal to a contender.
He wants to return to Florida is the speculation, but he may not clear waivers is the problem, and Detroit doesn’t feel they have to retain.
So if he doesn’t change his mind and it’s Florida or staying in Detroit, good bet Detroit will just keep him for the rest of the season, and part ways this summer.
If the relationship has deteriorated because he’s now saying Florida or nothing, maybe they will put him through waivers. The problem with that is, it just doesn’t look good and Detroit’s going to be a legit destination over the next few years. So why deal with any reputation consequences, even if he is claimed by a contender not named Florida?
It’s a situation to keep an eye on.
