I'm still pissed Theodore signed in Vegas.$5.5m is a really nice cap hit, though.
We really need a LD that can actually hang with Mo.

And we drafted buchelnikov at 52 in a weak draft class. What's your point?
Dude. You’re going crazy with these arbitrary takes on this draft class. We’re not drafting 8th this year, my dude. Wings are going to pick 14th to 18th. There’s a HUGE drop from 1-10 and 11-32. Unless Bear falls to Detroit in that range (he won’t) then I want to trade that pick for an upgrade. Also adding ROR will likely turn that 14-18 pick into a 20-24 pick.
The wings have so many former 1sts on the team with 4 more coming. Not to mention guys like Buium, Mazur, Augustine. ROR fills the 2C spot today better than anyone we have, and in 1 or 2 seasons fills the 3C role. I’d take that over a potential Kemell or Rutger McGroarty at the draft. But I don’t think 2025 is deep enough to have those types in the teens.

I'm still pissed we didn't sign Krug in the summer of 2020. I think Krug-Seider would be an awesome pairing. And he's a Michigan kid to boot.I'm still pissed Theodore signed in Vegas.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I am viewing our first line as pretty much set in stone for the next few years with Cat-Larkin-Raymond, and I am 1000% good with that.Buchelnikov needs to stop being slotted as a first line winger already. I'm excited for his potential but it's more likely he ends up a Teemu Pulkkinen.
With so many teams after cozens as much as I'd like to get him I dont think the sabres will redo the reinhart trade and deal him in the division and constantly be haunted
It would have to be a much better deal than everyone else. What about the ducks ?? I would take zegras but I suspect yzerman wouldnt ... what about mctavish?????
Anaheim Ducks 2024-25 roster and scoring statistics at hockeydb.com
Ducks team as a whole have been underwhelming. Mctavish's numbers have been meh for 3 yrs now, carlsson and zegras 2. I think theyll make changes
Dont think itll be mctavish and verbeek wont be easy to deal with but can we make it so its hard for verbeek to say no?? Hes someone who'd show up in the post season
Off the top of my head 1st + nygaard + compher ??? Too much ? What could be an offer?
Preference would be cozens and I dont think mctavish would be moved but he could be someone worth targeting

Who is completely unproven at this point. He’s scoring at a nice rate but the KHL is weaker than it’s ever been. I’m not sure what to make of it.
This should have been on the header of this forum based on how often and how many of us think this.2nd line C, another top 6 winger, better partner for Seider, and a functional #5D to kick Holl out of the lineup.

I am looking for some of these guys to fill those wing slots on lines 2-3. Buchelnikov, MBN, Mazur, Plante, etc.
I don't know if Buchelnikov will make the team next year or the year after, but I could envision him stepping in as a 2nd line winger whenever he does. Teemu had a pretty fatal flaw which was his heavy feet. Not sure if Buchelnikov has a pronounced issue like that? Maybe he needs to continue to add weight/strength, not sure.
I thought that was just a temporary thing, and I am thinking Kasper will be the 2 or 3 C in the near future, but maybe it will stick and I’m wrong…?Is cat on the top line? Isn't it Kasper Larkin Raymond?
Debrincat copper kane/tank?
Knock on wood ... dont you dare jinx the kid before hes even had a shot ... you baaaastaaardddd lolBuchelnikov needs to stop being slotted as a first line winger already. I'm excited for his potential but it's more likely he ends up a Teemu Pulkkinen.
Hes got great chemistry with Larkin and raymond and they're all performing, as long as it keeps going I cant see any change comingI thought that was just a temporary thing, and I am thinking Kasper will be the 2 or 3 C in the near future, but maybe it will stick and I’m wrong…?
Who's slotting him on the first line? I'm thinking second/third line winger and pp specialist. Why pulkinnen? Did you just pick a former wing that never materialized and decided that they're the same player?
He's proving himself in the khl. Then when he comes here like any other prospects he will have the chance to prove himself in the NHL.
I guarantee you half the guys picked in the top 10 of the draft don't even make it in the NHL. But Yzerman is pretty damn good at picking players, so I'm ok with keeping the puck, or trading it only for an impact player in their mid 20s, like a center or LD
Trade Berggren/Compher/picks/prospects for Cozens and Hague/K.Miller/some other top 4 dman before the deadline and go into the POs with:Is cat on the top line? Isn't it Kasper Larkin Raymond?

Trade Berggren/Compher/picks/prospects for Cozens and Hague/K.Miller/some other top 4 dman before the deadline and go into the POs with:
Cozens-Larkin-Raymond
DeBrincat-Kasper-Kane
Soderblom-Copp-Rasmussen
Tarasenko-Veleno-Motte/Fischer
Shine
Miller-Seider
Ed-Johansson
Chiarot-Gus
Petry
Could do some damage in the POs...
On a certain level I can agree with this. The issue is how long a typical 10-20 overall prospect will take to reach meaningful NHL level playoff contribution, versus what the current timeline looks like for Detroit's window of Cup contention.I am confident there are some players that will be available in the 10-20 range this year we would be very happy with picking, as is the case almost every year.

Wouldn't break up the top line personally. Put Cozens between DeBrincat and Kane then.
Im still mad we didn't get Suter and Parise... it was a lock...I'm still pissed Theodore signed in Vegas.
We really need a LD that can actually hang with Mo.
But if he some of these prospects hit then you can stack the top line no problem.Temporary? It's as temporary as Kane's stay with the wings will be. It's also been proven not to work because it loads all the talent on one line
Na man was joking lmaoSorry if It felt like I was attacking you, but yes Pulkinnen because he dominated the AHL and just fizzled.
I'm mainly talking about the people who slot every prospect in the lineup like there won't be busts and thus we shouldn't make moves.
Yup a top 6 ofWouldn't break up the top line personally. Put Cozens between DeBrincat and Kane then.

If you're still picturing a window more like 2029-2032, I can see your point. But I'm picturing a window more like 2026-2029. And I don't see future picks being ready to roll for that timeline.
More specifically, I don't see Detroit missing the playoffs again for the next decade. And I don't see Detroit continuing to be so conservative, waiting for more kids instead of dealing some assets to boost the active roster.
If Rossi were available (surely after the season), I'd rather just keep him than trying to swap him for CozensIs marco rossi available??? I doubt it but had heard the wild wont want to give him the contract it would likely take to be done after the season hes having
Any chance we can help reunite the buium brothers in a package deal so we can then flip rossi for cozens ??? I know it wont happen but maybe that's somethin that might entice Buffalo??
Off the top of my head so try not to bash me too much lmao
Buium + 1st + compher + for rossi
Rossi + veleno for cozens
He's not great at center and would be a much better wing but Buffalo refuses to play him there for some reason. Put him on Larkin's wing and I think he gets back to his 35G level, could even hit 40.
