It's not incoherent. ''Insiders'' are essentially middlemen who are used (sometimes strategically) to throw out helpful info for a given team to either gin up interest or to give info on a trade that's all but officially consummated. They'll get info directly from Agents, GM's or AGM's or higher ups in the FO's etc.

I don't need a middle man. Not in most cases. But I don't know every single detail to every single transaction. Just the big ones, or potential big deals. Sometimes I know, other times I don't. For example: I'm not overly concerned about who our assistant coaches are for example. I wouldn't even try to look into that.
So.. did the Pens use the middlemen to put it out there that they want a 1st round pick, top prospect and roster player? And if they did.. then why wouldn't they have taken it?

Is our resident boomer of all people claiming to be an Insider now
C'mon now. He was cleaning the urinals and overheard Dubas on his cell while he was dropping a deuce. You know how hard it is to get access like THAT?

The perimeters there were widely known. The specifics came to light a day or two before. Why he turned it down defies logic! I can't say definitively why other than they wanted a different piece instead of Clarke with Letang and EK already here.

Many were very surprised he turned that offer down. Some in the ORG weren't overly enamored with Clarke, they preferred Greentree. But the ask was absurd.

... but they already were planning on trading EK's ass so that doesn't make sense. Where did the specifics "come to light"? It wasn't here while it was actually happening. I don't remember you saying everyone's pipe dream trade was actually real

I can believe an argument that Dubas turned down an offer for Rakell that HFPens would have taken, but to suggest he turned down a package of Clarke and a 1st for Rakell is such an absurd suggestion that I think it has no merit.

Remember when you said we were locked into 6th or 7th OA for weeks and weeks? And when I challenged you on that notion you turned tail? And when I said weeks before the end of the season we could finish anywhere from 9th OA or higher you laughed your ass off? You move the goalposts as if you're trying to reach a quota. Keep quiet junior.

Well, it didn't happen did it? And yes I mentioned it quite a bit in multiple threads.

Did your insider tell you they were gonna finish 11?

Any chance you have some inside info to share now then, ahead of time? Either regarding trades or the draft, or both? It would at least go some way in substantiating your claim of having info the rest of us are not privy to..

You never said anything about that being a real thing at the time. You just started acting like an insider in the last couple months.
I'm not acting like an insider and my behavior has been the same on here for years and years. You should have seen my dismay regarding the Brassard trade.

I don't know who they're gonna draft for example. If I know something I'll say so, I'm sure I'll be making comments soon, but nothing at the moment. I don't know every single thing Kyle will do nor do I claim to.

Let's just see how often I'm wrong and how often I'm not. IF something is merely an opinion I'll stipulate it as such. If it's something more concrete I'll stipulate it that way.

• At the combine, the Penguins took at least Roger McQueen, Keshawn Aitcheson, Radim Mrtka and Jackson Smith out to dinner or lunch for additional meetings at some point, and Dubas met with Anton Frondell and Victor Eklund back in Sweden during the year. Dubas also traveled to Moncton during the year to watch Caleb Desnoyers play, but stayed back and didn't speak with him in-person until the combine.

• You can't read too heavily into the dinner lists at these things, but they're usually a pretty good hint. Two years ago, Brayden Yager was one of the few they took out to dinner, and there was good reason for that.

• Mrtka had a good time at the dinner but didn't remember Dubas' name after. Wouldn't read into that at all, though, since he didn't remember anyone from any team's name that he talked to all year. Kind of funny.

Fair enough, and I probably wouldnt be to hung up on if you are wrong on stuff, as I imagine things can change pretty quick when it comes to things like trades, as I believe most of the things talked about between GMs never materializes anyway.. But you can probably understand why people would question the truth of beeing an insider on a message board like this right? There seems to be a lot of people out there pulling things out their ass and claiming it to be inside info, case in point: Eklund..

Pretty sure he talked with Martin also. But he'll be gone before we pick if we don't move up.

The first four you mentioned can go pound salt! Do not want!

I'm not an ambulance chaser. I'm not gonna say a lot on every possible rumor that comes about. I'm not even on here as much as I've been say a few years ago. I'd rather be 3 for 3 than say 7 for 10.

Of the guys listed, the only one I'd be happy with would be Eklund, and to a lesser degree McQueen (pretty high on the guy, just have concerns with his health, as most seemingly do). I want a forward this year. I'd be happy with Frondell as well, but I can't see him slipping that far

Ok,LeBrun says teams are hot after Rust. Which 2-3 teams are most serious?

Eklund is of that group the only one I'd want! Desnoyers but he'll be long gone. do not want a defensemen.

Totaly agree on the defensemen, as I dont see any of them having the upside to make it worth it passing up on the forwards that should be available, especially when you take in to consideration that D is in my opinion the strongest part of our prospect pool, even though thats not saying much. I know we disagree on McQueen though, I just wouldnt be able to pass up on drafting a guy with that much raw potential, especially if it was between him and the Dmen.
