If we could trade the 12 to Montreal for 16+2nd, I would be willing to do 16ov for him, provided we can also send out someone like Acciari but it doesn't seem like Minny wants that. I would want to see other offers for Rakell and Rust before I committed one of them but if the deal came out as Rust for Rossi straight up...I don't think I would be that upset.

Dude, there's no need to sling shade. At one point or another, we've all overvalued players. That's assuming what you say there was me and it's true. I have no idea. But the value was reportedly at something like 2 1sts. A 1st is a 1st, Clarke is worth a first, and LA would have needed to move salary so Moore makes sense. If LA was that desperate and we include something to even it out, it's not THAT outrageous. Or maybe it is. This is HF after all.

Regarding that LA trade scenario, Dubas turned it down. NO, I don't think it was ourageous, what I think is turning it down was outageous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF Rakell went to LA ok, we likely lose a game or two and pick higher this summer. That was a terrible missed opportunity on multiple fronts.

Regarding Rossi, they likely want Rust +12th and 84th OA for say Rossi and 52hd OA.

I think Dubas is probably gonna be waiting/watching guys like Ehlers and Boeser. Particularly with Bennett and maybe Marchand staying in Florida.

Once Ehlers and Boeser are off the board, then you can probably pressure teams into paying up for Rust and Rakell. I don't know that Marner's situation has a ton of influence on Dubas' plans.

There is no chance in hell that Dubas was offered Clarke+1st+Moore for Rickard Rakell. The best rumour we got was that some teams might have been offering two late 1sts

I would be absolutely out of my mind furious if Dubas turned down Moore+Clarke+1st for Rakell. So it's probably not true. I could see 2 of the 3 being offered and frankly I would have taken that.

I don't think he was ever offered that. I would imagine the price tag was too high so they pivoted to the much cheaper Kuzmenko, who ended up being VERY good for them. I half expect them to resign him instead of spending assets on Rakell.

I wouldn't do that Rossi deal. I don't think he has that kind of value, at least to us.

Signing a cheap one year deal in hopes of getting a better deal next year isn't the worst option. Dallas is a cup contender. Marcus Pettersson did the same for us.

Yes, he has a NMC, but I'm sure he can waive that just like any other time a guy gets traded with a NMC.

If Toronto has moved on, then they would prefer to get something for him, even if it's only a 3rd like Guentzel.
