I was kind of expecting Marchment and Dumba to be a package deal. I wonder if they'll just buy our Dumba
Looks like we’re not even in this one…I though Dubas wanted to trade some assets for good young players….we should be all over this…

I fail to see the missed opportunities when a crappy and overpaid veteran player is traded for futures. I mean, the missed opportunities will be if we have to start the season with our own crappy veteran players (Hayes, Acciari, Lizotte, Heinen, Graves, Jarry et al). But missing out on Mason fricking Marchment?
This board is weird sometimes.
Meh he's young enough he could work for anyone. But yea he makes more sense for a team who's competing right now.Peterka is going to cost an insane amount. That's the kind of move that Chicago/San Jose should be making, not a team that's entering a rebuild
Buffalo should be interested in Rust…so I think we doI like Peterka but Buffalo's needs don't align with what the Pens have.
They're probably looking for top 4 RD that can play defense, an upgrade at 2C, and if Peterka's asking out, a scoring line LW.
I don't think they'll be much interested in 1st rounders, and this team shouldn't be trading any of their own 1sts anyway tbh.

RustWhat assets do we have that Buffalo would want? Compare that to the other teams in the mix. We have the 11th pick, then a bunch of aging players a prospect pool that is more akin to a kiddie pool.
Should they?Buffalo should be interested in Rust…so I think we do
Rust
A second probably…Rust is signed three more seasons at a good price….we don’t need to add a lotAnd what else? They're gonna get better than Rust in a package
Why are we acquiring him, was my point. Our focus should be youth. Young NHLers, NHL prospects close to the NHL, top prospects, top draft picks, etc.How is Marchment even remotely comparable to those guys?
He has 47 points in 62 games this year and 53 points in 81 games last year. He had basically as many points individually as the group you listed there combined.
Peterka just posted better than Rust's career high in points and is a decade younger.A second probably…Rust is signed three more seasons at a good price….we don’t need to add a lot
Rust is a leader of men…haven’t you been listening to top 2-3 coach Sullivan? Sabres need his vet presence lolPeterka just posted better than Rust's career high in points and is a decade younger.C'mon man.
Mike Sullivan? The Rangers' coach?Rust is a leader of men…haven’t you been listening to top 2-3 coach Sullivan?
Honestly, I'm not as high on Hagens or Frondell as some are. Although I feel sure they'll be off the board before we pick even if we move up. But I'm not a big fan of either. There seems to be a rumor about a possible Carolina-Chicago swap involving third overall and Andrei Svechnikov. I doubt it is true but this is not the first time rumblings about Chicago trading the third overall pick has been mentioned.
I love Rakell. I like Rust. But third overall is James Hagens territory. It would be nice if there could be a deal with Chicago.
They owe us for, well, owning us.
For me this draft is simple: Misa, then Hagens, then O'Brien.Honestly, I'm not as high on Hagens or Frondell as some are. Although I feel sure they'll be off the board before we pick even if we move up. But I'm not a big fan of either.
