Unfortunately I suspect Dubas will be similar with Rust.
IF EK and one of Rakell and Rust are moved that'd be great if we garner solid return which I believe we would. I think with the wingers however it's one or the other likely not both. At least this summer.

Forsberg for 11th
Forsberg was the 11th pick in 2012 draft who we passed over to take crap…we also have the 11th pick in this draft and we’re not trading it for Forsberg, nor will we select anyone nearly as good as Forsberg lol…
I think this is Jesse just telling us to select the next great Swede at #11, Victor Eklund lol

Dubas is going to right 2 wrongs. Forsberg for 11th and Graves. :sarcasm:

THAT'S PRECISELY the mistake I don't want them to repeat this time round! Take the forward not the defensemen. Pouliot you SOB!

To this day I still hate that draft.

Seeing Forsberg keep on slipping to our pick and hearing Shero made a trade ... only for him to take Pouliot. Ugh.

It's like messaging a hot girl on a dating site and then the next time you log in you see you have a new message, but it's just from the moderation team offering you an extra month's free.

(Or so I'm told that's how it works ... ) :sarcasm:

@Andy99 "FF" means forfeit. All gamers know that.
The Pens are fully blowing it up and going after Mckenna, with all haste.
Marshall with the scoop.
Or......! It means the NYR's are forfeiting the #12 pick up to the Pens.

@Jesse

Edit: It also means fast forward/ fast finish/ follow Friday/ final fantasy / friendly fire/ feeding frenzy/ feeling fine/ final or fantastic four/ flip flop/ fein fein and frosted flakes on how I feel about all of this.

I'll bet it could be the bolded as well since the draft is on a Friday.

Put Malkin at wing. He's on his way out, would benefit from the reduced defensive responsibilities. Let him play with sid. But after that yes, run Crosby, New Guy, Novak, Broz at C 1-4.
People have been saying this about Malkin for years. And it still isn't true.

He is way better in open space than in tight corners. After 20 years, that has not changed. Also, it would be nice to incorporate a young player on each of Crosby's and Malkin's lines.

Something like:

Rakell-Crosby-Koivunen
McGroarty-Malkin-Rust

Not necessarily this because there will be movement but along these lines.

Ideally:

Rakell-Crosby-Eklund
McGroarty-<<insert your favorite young center prospect here>>-Koivunen
Shabanov-Malkin-Tomasino
Hallander-Novak-Dewar

The Rust trade could hopefully land us that young center.

I think we would be on the right track with something like this.

Also, I wonder about this situation in Florida right now. If Zito is hell-bent on bringing his three UFAs back, then I have to believe Samoskevich could be sacrificed. I have seen people pencil him in to replace a departing Evan Rodrigues with the Panthers, but I wonder. I assume Samoskevich cannot be offer sheeted (like Luke Hughes situation), but I would definitely make them an offer. For example, I would prefer to go after Samoskevich ahead of a guy like Howard. Nothing against Howard but Samoskevich has a rookie season under his belt in a winning program. That has value. Would the Panthers be interested in Timmins as a cheap option for the defense? What about Blake Lizotte for fourth-line center? A reunion with Noel Acciari? Obviously, we would need to add a second-round pick or two thirds or whatever. I would be interested.

Another guy who may be a buy-low candidate is D Tobias Bjornfot. I can't believe this guy played 70 NHL games with the Kings before his 20th birthday (if memory serves), and is STILL only 24 years old today. There are plenty of NHL defensemen who were not or won't be ready until 24. Plus, he is getting great experience in the AHL finals this spring. Another RFA with the Panthers. He may or may not get a QO, I suppose. I would monitor this one. He feels like another Kolyachonok idea. Someone who could be a great value addition.

Graves may benefit from a different system and fixing the D by addition of say a Hague and subtraction like Karlsson has to happen. Yes a center in the draft and lottery picks for centers with extra picks and forwards as well. I hold onto Rakell unless Dubas is blown away with an offer. Muse has to fix all the nonsense from the Sullivan era as to size, grit, net front presence and quite frankly soft play. Jarry hopefully rebounds and did show better play end of last year.

I have no issue giving Graves a long look this season. Might as well. I don't think he's nearly as bad as he's been made out to be (Yohe was calling him worse than Jack Johnson) and can be a fine bottom pairing player.

F is the sixth letter of alphabet

FF=66

Mario is gonna own the team
Or... FF does stand for #11 overall in Forsberg, and that corelates into Carter Bear #11 picked at #11.

I like the sound of that.

A 17% on-ice shooting percentage is never the sustainable result of play. That's the highest by far in the 2007-08 onwards era in the postseason. We have more detailed scoring chance data from them that paints a pretty clear picture.
How is it not sustainable? They just sustained it for an entire playoff run.

Further- why is a high SH% bad? We’re not talking about giving out a contract and reg szn samples. Just performance over 23 games. I’d say the better you and your linemates shoot the puck the better you played. Is scoring goals not the objective? Were they not good at it? They were a major part of probably the best cup run I’ve seen.

I’m not a numbers hater but yall miss the plot sometimes.

Of course, I'm just saying you draw a line between assessing how they performed in that sample and what it tells you about how good the player is moving forward. Ville Leino was an absolute stud in the contained sample of the 2010 playoffs, but there were plenty of signs in his run that while it sustained for that sample it was misleading about the quality of player he was.

And there's a difference between shooting % and on-ice shooting %. His linemates shot 18% with him on the ice, which is completely unheard of in the playoffs and can't just be attributed to him. That's gonna boost a guy's assists totals way past what he was personally responsible for.

It’s amazing how terrible a hockey site ESPN is…why even pay to broadcast games if you’re going to put out this schlock lol…dated 2 days ago…go read about the Pens: according to ESPN, we have no plans to fire Sullivan lol…

I don't think they're really going to have a choice to play him. The UFA LD market is horrendous and anyone they could sign would likely require a multi-year deal.

That's why I've come around to supporting trading for K'Andre Miller's RFA rights. I don't particularly like Miller as a player all that much, but they desperately need guys who can play minutes and Miller's at least a minute eating middle pair guy. They can't go into next year with Pickering, Shea and Graves as their LD but UFA likely won't give them any better options.

They were updating the article as teams were eliminated. The date of when each team was written is before the team's name. In the Pens case, April 14.

I mean, I agree, not updating these blurbs when something major happens like firing the coach is pretty pathetic. But it's not as pathetic as not realizing they fired the coach already.

Dubas said his number 1 goal this year is to strengthen up the LD side. He wants young, big, fast, PMD. With Graves essentially being the only LD we have on the roster due to his contract, I think you have to play Pickering. I am not sure if they will push him on that 2nd pairing or just protect him on the bottom pair but regardless that leaves you with Shea & Kolyachonok as your #7-8 defenseman. I fully expect EK65 to be gone and I like Timmins a lot to bring him back. I think he did a great job when Dubas brought him in. Sign a 2-3 year deal and beef him up to trade later potentially. This leaves you with a giant hole as your top paring with Letang. Weve been saying it since the season ended... GO GET BYRAM!!

Byram-Letang
Graves-Timmins
Pickering-St. Ivany
Shea/Kolyachonok
